Is this a problem or not?

Hi friends! This is something urgent and i need your comments. Yesterday, I opened my egold account. I was surprised when something unusual appeared in my egold. They're asking me to enter a PIN?? I don't know what pin they're pointing out. What I did, I close that window even I haven't log out. Afterwards, I checked my email to see whose among of my friends started a new discussion. Surprisingly, I received email from PINRobot_donotreply@egold.com and it says.... PIN:***-*** ( I'll not show my pin for security purpose:) ) Acct:******* Expires: 5/5/2007 5:30:47 AM GMT IP:***.**.***.***--- Explanation:The security settings on e-gold account******* require a new PIN entry when a change in computer and/or location is detected. If you did not attempt to login to e-gold account******* at 5/5/2007 5:15:47 AM GMT, this suggests that somebody besides you knows the passphrase to your e-gold account due to poor security practices on your part! In that case you should immediately take the following steps in the following order:1. Login to your e-gold account If the one-time PIN is still active (see above), your successful login will deactivate it. 2. Change the passphrase on your e-gold account Use e-gold's Scure Randomized Keypad (SRK) in case your computer is infected with a keystroke logger or virus. 3. Read and implement the security recommendations published on the e-gold website. Don't put this step off, or you risk compromising your new passphrase as well!*** For your security, never access the e-gold website via hypertext links in e-mail!*** -- Please do not reply to this automatically generated email message. What will I do?

OK calm down. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your account or with e-gold. It may be because you used a different computer when you made an account there and you accessed it using another. I also experienced this when my desktop was not working and I'm using my laptop instead. It required me to enter a new pin because I'm using another IP address than what was in their "record", they send the pin via your email to make sure that you are really the one accessing your account. It's for security purposes only. What you have to do is just enter the pin that was sent to you. And everything will be OK.

Thanks for the best response malou. Anyway, you didn't use other pc? Really? Maybe someone knows your account and tried to access it (obviously not using your pc) so I suggest that you just change your passphrase, just to be safe about it. All I'm sure about is that, e-gold asks us to enter a pin if we access our account not using the IP address (pc/laptop) that we used to register with them.

Oh don't worry there's nothing wrong wrong with your egold. It usually happen when your IP address changes. I have encountered that many times because I'm using a random IP address. All you have to do is key in the new pin before you log-in to access your egold. It's just for security purposes.
