I know very little about China. But I am interested to know more about China. I have studied the history of China but I was not a good student to show much interest in studies. So I have only vague ideas about it. I have heard of various dynasties of ancient China.. I have heard about the wonderful great wall which I used to look even now with surprise wherever I see it even in my computer. How much you could help me to know more about China.

I don't want to know the history of china,Confucious, Communism, Chairman Mao, Denz Xiao or anything like that. I want to know how the ordinary people of China live, their social conditions, their outlook to life, to the other world, their beliefs. I know these are of wider dimensions understanding about these cannot be completed from mere descriptions but to be in China at least once. It is my long cherished ambition to visit China, the Chinese villages. Thank you for extending your help.

Hi,Sreevasu you really ask me a very difficult question about Chinese. because so lager area of China and so many of Chinese, they have different customs, different ways of life. but in general, we can different tham by area-North and South, people from north like nooldes as their ordinary food but in south they often have rice for usual food. There is also have differece in characteristcs between North and South, for North they are more spoken and simple, but South people they are a little bit more indirect, hard-working. For all, we Chinese are modest, hard-working, reserved in character. We ordinery life I think is not very different from you, but those people in rural area are very different from us. (sorry, I will tell you more because today is so busy)

Hmm. I've only been there once, but my grandfather was from there. All I know is that it boasts of more than 2000 years of history. the emperor is called huang di. huang he is the widest river, right? or am i wrong? i can't remember. we've been taught like four years of Chinese history and I can't remember any of them. oh yeah, teachers' day is on september 28 because that is the birthday of... er... suen tzi? he's Confuscious right? and the moon cake was used to deliver messages among the people when they were planning an upheaval of the empire. they tucked the slips of paper inside the moon cake and gave them away to spread the message. okay, i ran out of stuff. :) oh yeah, hua mu lan is a real person!

For centuries China stood as a leading civilization, outpacing the rest of the world in the arts and sciences, but in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the country was beset by civil unrest, major famines, military defeats, and foreign occupation. After World War II, the Communists under MAO Zedong established an autocratic socialist system that, while ensuring China's sovereignty, imposed strict controls over everyday life and cost the lives of tens of millions of people. After 1978, his successor DENG Xiaoping and other leaders focused on market-oriented economic development and by 2000 output had quadrupled. For much of the population, living standards have improved dramatically and the room for personal choice has expanded, yet political controls remain tight. It has 123 million+ users for Internet. Conventional Name: People's Republic of China Popular Name: China or People's Republic of China(PRC) Local Name: Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo Local Nick name: Zhongguo.
