Long trips, stock your boot/trunk

When going on a long trip, you probably make sure your car is roadworthy, checking tyres, oil, water etc. but do you take a survival kit with you? Even in summer the nights can get cold so a blanket or one of those lightweight "survival blankets" can be very useful. First aid kit. Lots of drinking water and packet food such as crackers. Spare cash taped to the floor of the trunk, and emergency numbers but no bank details etc.in cae you are unlucky and the car is stolen. Chains if you are driving in bad weather. Wellington boots and a waterproof. Change of clothing in sealed plastic bags. Sun screen, tissues and moist wipes. I am sure you can add to the list. Even such small items as a sticking plaster can be very expensive and if you are night driving you will be hard put to find a shop!

Look, Gabs, if you don't like your comfort, Gissi sure does! So pack a couple of tins of doggie nosh with the ring pull lids too lol. All additions to the list gratefully accepted and car haters take note - not all of us can carry bags, or even walk,so we do need a car.

Well, you lucky Lady! However, don't you keep a few emergency items, just in case you need something on the way, I would be surprised if you don't as you are one very efficient Lady!

What clever ideas, I never check anything on my ka, I cannot open the bonnet, my daddy does it for me, bless him. I used to keep blankets in cushion covers in the back seat, handy if the kids want to snooze too. Aunty Dia Rear tablets are always a good idea, along with travel sickness tabs and headache pills.

Yes, good idea about the emergency medications. You really should watch what your Dad is doing when he keeps the car in good condition though, if you do not mind me saying so. The more you know, the less you are dependent on others, if you need to do something to the car when your Dad is on holiday, or something. By the way, what's the word on those chicken photos?

Hi Shelagh, Oh yes well you should always make sure that your cat is roadworthy, yes I do take a survival kit with me just in case especially when it is a long trip. In regards to my bank account well no one can access this unless they knew my password and no one knows this except me. Also make sure that you take a long a torch as this can come in hand especially when it is night time. xx

Yup, Kathy, we have a wind up torch that doesn't use batteries in the car all the time, so I forgot about that for other! Not being cheeky, as I make loads of typos too, but I do love the bit about making sure your cat is roadworthy lol. Sounds like that cat who hitched a ride under the bonnet of a car and came out unscathed! Can't find the link to it, but it was a funny newspaper story over here.
