Are we only having 5 years left to live?!!

2012 is the end? - Earth's magnetic field

According to several "news" there is a possible solar pole reversal. Meaning north and south of the sun will be reversed. According to some, earth's magnetic field will be affected as well, resulting in a pole reversal on earth. During which, earth will be left unprotected for cosmic radiation and the atmosphere will change. Not to mention huge earthquakes are expected... They say all this will happened around 2012... Are we only having 5 years left to live??! http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2003/29dec_magneticfield.htm http://survive2012.com/geryl1.php

This types of news based on some mathematical calculations were also on news in past few years. Actually the world is changing very rapidly. We do not know what can happen the next day. Though a particular day or date or time cannot be confirmed but the world will be near to extinction if we can't seriously protect our environment. All researchers should be motivated to design systems to protect the environment first then only science can thrive and all these digital development can sustain. We should help the scientists and we personally try to protect environment. Otherwise it may be anyday the earth and we all are destroyed on a single severe earthquake or something we cannot ever think off. Science has developed but science should not try to rule over nature, nature has immense energy to destroy all the said development of science.

The present dipole moment,as the article claims,is at 8 × 10 to the power 22amps m2 which is twice the million year average. The calculations are carried out based on a hypothetical model of the inner iron core where they can't reach due to the heat. Now, considering that the pole drift of 40 km per year is accurate,we still shouldn't have much to worry as records show that the pole drift and magnetic flip gives rises to the poles at random and unexpected zones of earth. If that's true, then while I think it could result in more natural calamities due to the geomagnetic field being affected ,but the title of the newspaper article "Is Earth's magnetic field collapsing?" seems a little far fetched to me.If the pole drift catches further momentum ,then a reverse reversal may occur bringing back the magnetic poles to their original position at some point. But even if that's mere conjecture and doesn't happen, then the pole drift will continue even after the flip. So,a definitive prediction is impossible.A few years back, astronomers claimed that earth is on a colliding path with another cellestial body that was pacing towards it,but the body actually missed planet by quite some distance.

I don't think so Sweetie they predicted that the world would in the Year 2000 and it didn't I just wish they would stop scaring People like that all the time instead of scaring People they should try and do something about it and work out Precautions and that But know they are to busy scaring People and let it happen

Why worry about something you have no control over? It is just another scare tactic from the same people who invented the global warming freak-out. There are any number of possible disasters that could happen on earth. It is a waste of time to worry about them. If we only have 5 years to live, then it is time to PARTY...lol. I am just going to go on with my life, so let me know when the world ends so I don't miss it...lol.

i dont believe in this stuff, they predicted this kind of stuff to happen in several different periods of the earths life...1894, 1993, 2004, 2009, 2012 and 2014 are the ones ive heard of so i shall believe it when i see it and if it was a CERTAINTY then there would be protocols that the worlds governments would be taking to prevent deaths

It has happened before so I don't think we have much to worry about. If it kills us all it is only a short loss compared to the age of the earth. However I do not feel that is the case. It has happened several times during the time humans have walked the earth and we are here today. But it might kill a lot of people. It is the chance we take. We are very small compared to the world where we live. It can take a second to destroy a civilization.

I wouldn't worry, the magnetic poles change but every 300,000 years, so calculating an accurate date for such an event is like predicting the very second a goal is scored in soccer (can't be done very accuratly)

Only 5 years. Well that gives us time to plan the biggest party the world has ever seen.I don't know where it should be heald, but it should be a great party if the world is coming to an end.

Hi Augustta, hope all is well. Wow! What an interesting post. I'm not really sure what to think as I knew nothing about this. I do though know that people have been having theories for years about the world coming to an end and we are still here. BUt I guess when it's your time it's your time. You can't fight fate.

You know I heard about this on the PBS science channel. But I think the sun's radiation for a little while won't be that big of a deal = just wear a lot of sunscreen. :) I'm sure scientists will build places for people to have shelter there. The question is how long will it take for the poles to reverse, do you know?

Exact dates can not really be given to drastic changes like this, although it is not a question of if this will ever happen but when. Whether we ALL will die though, I doubt it. Some will probably survive and set on the race. For us to go totally extinct I think we are in too big of numbers. But if deaths will fall one thing will probably be certain, it will be many.

I certainly do think something is going on. The weather is getting stranger and stranger. And, the sun is much stronger, I've already gotten a bad sunburn and wasn't even outside very long. And it seems like there have been more earthquakes and natural disasters then usual. Very interesting discussion. I look forward to all the responses and others opinions on this.

This is scary stuff but I am eager to watch what happens in the 2012. I don't really beleive we will all be destroyed, humans are too intelligent ot be destroyed, maybe the world government is working on a great plan to save the world. This theory is really interesting though.

Hi Augustta well apart of me wants not to believe it but another part of me is saying yes its true. I have noticed a big part in last 2 years with the weather changing so drastically. So I suggest to live it up and live everyday like it was your last.LOL

I dont give a damn.!!!!! Its just riddiculous. I dont belive in that news. If its an end it must have created a great havoc across the globe, but there is nothing such. So I belive that this news is nothing but a hoax. I have come across of sevral many forecast, none of them had any concrete proof, so I think it will just not affect us any more. So..... DONT YOU WORRY!!!!!!! ITS NOT AN END!!!!!!!! WNJOY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there is nothing much that we can do about this prediction, right? we must adopt the wait and see attitude on this one. no one among us will ever know when this world will exactly end and how. the idea that we have so far for certain, is the melting of the polar ice caps. some flooding will take place as the ozone layer gets destroyed and depleted all the more. we can say that we have to prepare for the worst days to come, yet all of us do not have the exact picture in our minds as to how worst will it be.

One religion on this earth (I won't say it to avoid any unnecessary argument) said in their holy book that one of the obvious sign that this world will come to its end is the reversal of the north and south of the sun. No one can escape the apocalypse, every single human being in this world will die and perish. I don't say that it surely will happen in 5 years time but I have the feeling that it will be soon. It is time for us to cleanse ourselves from sins. Start to be nice and so on. I pray for all my family members, friends...
