Mommy's Little Tomboy ~ Is she harder to realate to?

My oldest daughter is 8 years old and is such a tomboy. Her bedroom decor is blue camoflauge from the boys department at Target. She loves to play in the dirt, play football with the boys, and hates wearing a dress. Trying to get this child into a dress is a disaster. I have stopped trying as I believe that she is who she is and I really don't want to deal with the fight. I wish someone could remind her grandmother of this.
Does anyone else out there have a tomboy? Is it harder to relate to a tomboy than a girly girl? I sometimes have a hard time trying to find fun stuff for us to do together as I am all about getting a manicure and tea and she wants to dig up worms in the dirt.
