Can you see the constellation the Great Bear from your house?

Ursa Major also called the plough or the great bear is the constellation that I am best at finding on clear nights here in England. It is situated directly above our house! Can you find this constellation from your house? Do you recognise any other constellations?
I forgot to rotate the photograph.

When I was younger I was very interested in stars and tried to learn the different constellations but now I can only remember simple ones like the ones you have mentioned the plough and the bear. I have a book which shows all the constellations but I don't take as much interest these days as I used to. However I would enjoy to spend a night star gazing like people do when they go UFO hunting and they lie out on their backs all night watching the sky.

We get more similar the more posts I read. Although, I think I would get too cold lying out all night. Even snuggled up in my cosy sleeping bag I might not be warm enough.

It is probably quite childish but I find it quite extraordinary that I can converse with a fellow Mylotian from across Europe that can see the same stars whilst typing. What an amazing thing the internet is. Noapte bun.

Hello magicalmerlin. When I open my front door I can see every night the Great Bear on the doorsteps. Every night when there aren`t any clouds I see it when I look up. The entrance is towards the north, the street is east and the terrace is west. So it is no wonder. I love to look at the Great Bear every time I let my dogs out into the yard at night for 25 years. And this star constellation taugh me some things about other stars as well.

Wow, I have a childish fascination with being linked to somebody else where on the planet via the stars. Now, when I see the plough I will think of you looking at it too.
