Can you see the constellation the Great Bear from your house?

Ursa major, the plough, the great bear - Can you recognise this constellation? Do you call it Ursa major, the plough or the great bear? Does it have another name in your language?

Ursa Major also called the plough or the great bear is the constellation that I am best at finding on clear nights here in England. It is situated directly above our house! Can you find this constellation from your house? Do you recognise any other constellations? I forgot to rotate the photograph.

When I was younger I was very interested in stars and tried to learn the different constellations but now I can only remember simple ones like the ones you have mentioned the plough and the bear. I have a book which shows all the constellations but I don't take as much interest these days as I used to. However I would enjoy to spend a night star gazing like people do when they go UFO hunting and they lie out on their backs all night watching the sky.

We get more similar the more posts I read. Although, I think I would get too cold lying out all night. Even snuggled up in my cosy sleeping bag I might not be warm enough.

I can see Ursa Major from my room, because my window is facing north. I must look through some branches but it's there.

It is probably quite childish but I find it quite extraordinary that I can converse with a fellow Mylotian from across Europe that can see the same stars whilst typing. What an amazing thing the internet is. Noapte bun.

Well, we are at almost the same latitude and live on the same planet, so it's normal. The feeling of sharing the most simple of things with others across the Globe is, nevertheless, unique. I see you know a bit of Romanian too...:D Noapte buna!

Hello magicalmerlin. When I open my front door I can see every night the Great Bear on the doorsteps. Every night when there aren`t any clouds I see it when I look up. The entrance is towards the north, the street is east and the terrace is west. So it is no wonder. I love to look at the Great Bear every time I let my dogs out into the yard at night for 25 years. And this star constellation taugh me some things about other stars as well.

Wow, I have a childish fascination with being linked to somebody else where on the planet via the stars. Now, when I see the plough I will think of you looking at it too.
