This was a story we heard at Church today, The minister was giving the children's address, and he was saying about legends associated with the bible . he was asking the children if they knew about the story of how the robin got his red breast, He said the story went that there was a fire in the stable to keep the baby Jesus warm and it was going out, the robin went down beside the fire and fanned the embers with its wings in doing this he managed to rekindle the flames but he singed his breast, I thought this was such a lovely story and the children really enjoyed it too xx

Thank you for sharing that story, I love robins, so did my beloved nan, she sadly passed away some time ago and both me and mum believe that when we see a robin in the garden it's nan. Mum even talks to a robin who flies down beside her 'Hi nan' Once when I was at nursery I was in the garden watching the children play when a robin came down and landed on my shoe. The children were amazed and didn't startle or worry the little robin. It was beautiful to see I only wish I had a camera.

this is a good story to tell. it will make the children think that it is good to help others. helping others can make us acquire the beautiful colors of life. for the robin it was that reddish colors at the chest. for us, it will be the good marks that we will have in our lives which we shall cherish and others will value until we die.

Hi Wee,I had never heard this story before. It is sweet. What a nice story for children.I will have to tell my grandkids. They love stories. It is interested how these stories start.I wonder who made it up in the first place.Did he mention an author? The Indian tribes (US American Indians) have many stories about animals and how they became what they are. xoxoxo

That was a good story, weemam. The robin has a very compassionate heart that he quickly tried to protect Jesus. Thanks for sharing.

That's a really beautiful legend weemam. It's great that your minister addresses the children of your congregation, as mine often does too. Take care.
