Study Suggests Women May Need More Vitamin C Recent findings by researchers at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and Vanderbilt University indicate that the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C for young women should be 90 milligrams rather than the current level of 75 milligrams. Studies showed long-term vitamin C uptake in 15 healthy women aged 19 to 27. They evaluated the women for periods ranging from 158 to 214 days, while keeping them on diets that provided daily doses of vitamin C from 30 to as high as 2,500 milligrams. The researchers found that the volunteers' cells and blood plasma approached their saturation points for vitamin C at doses of 100 to 200 milligrams per day. They say eating 5 fruits and vegetables a day would provide a healthy woman with approximately 200 milligrams of vitamin C and afford other health benefits such as a decreased cancer risk. 2. Elliptical Training Done Properly If you want to burn the maximum amount of calories while on an elliptical trainer, follow these two simple steps: * The more sophisticated elliptical machine models have variable stride lengths. Determine if the machine you are using is adjustable or not, and if so, vary your natural stride length according to your pace, be it walking, jogging, or running. ยท Use the rails for balance and not support. Supporting yourself with the rails can cause you to burn up to 15 percent fewer calories. Try to mimic the posture you would have when running.

Hey thanks this is good to know. My mother is a diabetic and I have been telling her to take her vitamins daily but she is always forgetting. I have also heard that not getting enough vitamins A-D or not enough calcium might cause you to have depression symptoms. I think that is why so many woman are getting swamped by depression now days because we aren't taking the time we need or getting the things we need to help us stay healthy and focused I wioll admit I am a junkfood junky sometimes and they are no vitamins and stuff we really need in junkfoods or if they are the stuff in it makes us digest it to fast to let it absorb into our bodies. Thanks for the tips I appreciate them.

Does that mean older women need the same amount of Vitamin C too? Regarding the other tip Kathy - I have a treadmill at home and I always use the rails for support; I used to go to the gym, but was never told just to use them for balance, so thanks for that. Might burn off a few more calories for my effors now, lol!
