At last I uploaded an avtar!

I am here in my lot for more than three months. Till now I did not have an avtar. Though I wanted one, it was a difficult task to finalise upon one. Basically I am of the opinion to have one's own picture as avtar. That would be an honest and sincere way to express ourself. But I was caught up with another idea too. My avtar should be a striking one. It should catch the attention of others. Ideas like uploading the pictures of celebrities have been ruled out in the first instance itself.
Last day I opened a discussion on why some people get excellent responses while some get very poor responses. A lot of my friends participated in that discussion and gave valuable advice to me. Out of these advices one caught my special attention. That response was made by my friend augusta. She suggested that I must upload an avtar immiediately. That an avtar will help me attract attention. So I took up the avtar case again.
After examining a lot of pictures I selected this one. This avtar is a picture of a performing 'Kathakali' artist. Kathakali is a classical dance - drama form of Kerala, which is renowned the world over. Millions of Tourists visiting Kerala in India watch and admaire this colorfull dance drama. See the make up. It takes more than six hours to complete makeup of a kathakali artist. There is a lot to be said about this beautiful form of dance drama. It is the pride of Kerala.
Do you think an avtar will increase our popularity in myLot?
What do you think about an avtar. should it be one's own picture or any other picture of interest?
How do you find my avtar, is it good? Is it impressive?

Your avatar is definitely different. I am sure it will get you noticed. I do not like to use personal pictures, so I picked my monkey. My youngest boy is quite the little "monkey" and when I saw it, I immediately thought of him and kept it. I do know all the avatars of my "friends" and I think it's an easier way to know who started the discussion. You picked your avatar for all the right reasons, so it's perfect for you. An avatar to me does not have to be a picture of yourself, more so a representation of who you are. I am a mommy, and a proud mommy, so my rocking baby monkey represents my boys.

hello, misheleen. the avatar that you have chosen is cute and eye catching. i like viewing it very much. perhaps it is because, i am a lover of monkeys, too. it gives a good feeling seeing it playing and rocking.

i suggest that you get an avatar which is cute and easily gets one's attention. if you cannot find a suitable one, use your picture. i am sure that your picture will be more welcoming than the avatar that you have chosen. i do not mean to offend you, for you are my friend. but honestly, i do not take any good vibes with the avatar that you have chosen.

i think that avatars have to express your self or what you are , not necessary a picture for you but the picture that express you self , i am some times feel that i don't want to respond to some one because his avatar give me bad impression , maybe i am wrong but it is his choice and what he feel , by the way your avatar is nice and make me feel that you love art , there is a nice site for avatars , just look at him and let me know

I really like your avatar as that is very neat and is different from everyone else's avatars. It will make you stand out and hopefully you will get more responses to your topics now. It is good to have an avatar so people can recognize you. Congratulations on getting your first avatar up there. Some people choose to use pictures of themselves or pictures of something or someone else. I hope that you are having a good time so far here on myLot.

I think avatars add interest to the discussion. They give you a little something about the person whether it be a picture of themselves or a picture of something they like. It may increase your responses. I started out with a picture of myself. I do not know if it has helped me or not.

Using one's own picture as avtar is the best thing to do. It gives an authenticity to the name. It shows honesty and confidence. Though I selected a different picture, I still reserve the opinion own picture is the best avtar. Thank you gberlin for your response.

I thought about using my own picture as my avatar, but since I am not all that attractive I thought it might scare people. Instead I picked a graphic I made. I love both butterflies and roses and I am very proud of my artwork.
I don't think you have to use your own picture to add creditibility to your discussions. Your avatar should be an extention of yourself. The only thing I plan to change about mine is to make the background white instead of black I think. I hadn't decided yet though lol.

An avatar will get you noticed more by other members, although it is up to you to make good discussions and responses in order to make use of this.
As for the choice of avatar, it is purely a personal matter of preference. I have used numerous different animated avatars so far, while others are happier using their own image. I agree entirely with you that using the picture of a model or actor is a poor choice, otherwise there is no good or bad whatever you choose.

Really it takes more than six hours to get an artist made up. The colors used are all natuaral powders. The costumes also are there. It is a traditional art form. There is one institution in Kerala for the uplift of Kathakali.

lemme tell u ,an avatar definetly makes you more attractive on mylot since u urself are not here in person!!
secondly i would suggest u to not chage ur avatar reguraly, this is from my experience that ppl here tend to look at avatars and the avatars they c more, they would normally reply hoping it is their frnd...so hav an avatar which is attractive and at the same time helps u have a stable position here!
congrats for ur selects...it did attract my attention for sure( after all m indian too!!)

I do like your avatar.
I think it's important not to keep the mylot avatar because I don't think you get as many responses.
Yes I think your avatar can increase your popularity if it's becoming.
Some people do use their own photo.
I use one of the sketches I did some years ago.
I think you can use any photo that is small enough.
Yours is a good one and should get you noticed.

I thought your avatar was scarey at first but it is more striking really which is a good thing as it is eye-catching. My avatar is my dog which I don't really want to change but the focus is not very good as it is a personal photo. It is good that people have decided on different styles and not just everybody have a photo of themselves. The variety makes it much more interesting.
