A note to all my friends...

Last night we brought home a new foster puppy. He's staying with us because he has some really serious fear issues. He was probably abused as a baby. He's now about a year old, and scared of almost everything, but particularly men of a build similar to my husband's. Since my hubby's had experience in calming fearful dogs, we're trying to help him get through this and become a more well-adjusted pup so he can find himself a good home. Unfortunately, having a new pup in the house is taking up a lot of my time, so I may not respond to discussions for a while. I'm still keeping all of the emails of discussions my friends have started though, so I WILL eventually read them all. I just don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring their discussions or whatnot!

Oh, that is so sweet of you and your husband. I wish you all the luck in the world getting that poor sweet puppy back to puppy happiness.

Oh how wonderful of you and your husband to take on this task - I am sure it will be time consuming but well worth the effort in the end when the pup finds a good home. I will be keeping you all in my prayers.

Good luck with the pup. I think you'll bring him around but it may take awhile. We have a dog that was dropped as a pup at my mom's house across the road. We brought it home and she was so fearful and cowered for a long time whenever we would raise our hand to pat her. It was pretty obvious someone had been mean to her. I'm thinking it was a man too because she seemed to bond with me right away more than she did my husband. It's taken awhile and she still seems fearful of strangers if we go out. She is fine if they come into our house. She is so sweet and loving though. I didn't really thing we could handle another dog at the time but I wouldn't part with her now. She is so loving.

Well that's kinda the way Vali, our GSD is. We got him from "Good Shepherd Rescue" (cute name, no?) and when he first came home he was terrified of just about everything. Now he's still a bit scared sometimes of small kids or little dogs (that bark a lot) but for the most part he's doing pretty well. He even went to Irish Fest with us a couple of months ago. A huge step for a dog who used to be so afraid!

Hi bungirl, you don't have to worry that I will think that you are ignoring me and my threads. I was pretty "inactive" for the last few days. As a matter of fact, I wasn't able to respond to some of your threads too. I hope you won't think of deleting me, LOL. I needed to unwind because I am getting burned out here at mylot. Go ahead and do your stuff. I make sure to post about a hundred threads for you to sweat out, LOL!

Don't concern yourself with us. You just focus on the sweet little dog. That's a worthy cause for sure. : )
