Discrimination in our Society

Have you noticed all of the discrimination lately? It seems like it is everywhere but nobody does anything about it. Everyone is just taking in all of these laws and rules and such without breathing one hint of smoke. What is wrong with our society? Have we lost our ability to think for ourselves? In my area there is plenty discrimination. The males in High School arnt allowed to wear earrings. They arnt allowed to wear make up. They arnt allowed to have facial hair, and they arnt allowed to have long hair, and of course they arnt allowed to wear dresses! However, the females have the option of wearing either dresses or pants. The females have the option of either wearing short hair or long hair, jewlrey, and make up is allowed. I'm sorry but I see something terribly wrong with this. I realize that this has been going on for years, but I honestly beleive that we have no reason to treat our kids unequally. What happened to egual rights? Were they all given to the woman? And I'm not against woman. I am a women myself. I just beleive in equal rights. And I'm sick of hearing about boys having to cut their hair because the school tells them to while little Susie grows her hair to her feet. I'm tired of it. We wonder why there is teen pregnancy. We wonder why there are drop outs, drug abusers, ect. I'm not saying that this is the ONLY reason. I'm just saying that when we treat our girls like they are "special" and that they should be able to practice beauty more than males, we are teaching our girls to flaunt themselves. Little girls are wearing tube tops and skirts at 5 years old and flaunting in front of boys these days. Its because we teach this. Descrimination towards males are making the woman "Supreme Goddesses". Woman don't have equal rights anymore. They have MORE rights, and its sickening. A boy should be able to grow his hair long, and wear earrings, and eyliner and dye his hair purple to show his beuty just like a female. Ugh. I'm raged. Opinions?

This may be true in some cases however I think you need to remember that we still work twice as hard for hapf the pay. Now I am not saying that girls should be treated better than boys. I think they should be treated the same. No better no worse.

I personnally feel everyone should be allowed to express themselves. Everyone should be allowed to be an individual. It is boring when everyone is the same. In my high school we did not have a lot of restrictions. The only thing was guys could not show their underwear or wear wife beaters, and girls could not wear short skirts and spagetthi straps. Some of teh new rules about makeup and eyeliner is stupid. Why because they are differebt? People are truly scared of what is different. My daughter will have cute clothes, but not hoochie skirts. I look at this crap and think Did shorts get shorter? I want my daughter be cute, but teaching her to dress like a hussy at 5 is not my goal. I think you have a great point what has happend to open minded people?

I agree. Although in my high school there were some boys who did have long hair and wore makeup,of course they got ridiculed for it,but it was allowed. I dont know I think here in Cali anything goes (appearance) wise. I

I must say racism here isn't that common. There is some and especially under the lower educated they tend to be more into racism, but from what I see here on myLot... Lmfao :P. Mainly coming from Americans though, it appears that quite a lot of Americans have a hard time tolerating people others than themselves, or America has a lot more of undereducated people with a minimalistic view on the world. In your case, I saw in your profile you're from Texas. It is pretty much what a couple of famous people from my country which went to the states described as the capital of racism and discrimination. One of them which has been a Christian for pretty much all his life here and served as a minister was shocked when he attended a mass in a Texas church. Rather than being read from the bible and giving people time to pray he god to hear how the homosexual community is immoral, how the white race has the upper hand in this world, how women are supposed to stick in their place and take care of the man and kids, etcetera. The best way he could describe what he saw was what he has read about the church in the dark ages. If you'd actually give hate speeches like that here you'll end up in prison because discrimination is against the law, freedom of speech they claim it to be is just a weak excuse.
