First, it was our pets that died because China has NO control over the products exported from their country. Now, people in several countries are being poisoned and are dying because China is exporting antifreeze (diethylene glycol)and labeling it as "99.5% glycerin" which is used in medicines like cough syrup. This has been resulting in sickness and death around the world. Thousands have died in Panama, India, Bangladesh, Haiti, Nigeria and other countries. Here is a link to the article - http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/06/world/americas/06poison.html?th&emc=th If China cannot or will not control their own companies and exporters; the rest of the world needs to stop buying anything which "could" end up in foods, beverages, or medicine of any type from them. Let them manufacture and export paper, clothes, and other things that will not end up harming others. But, the rest of the world needs to protect themselves from this irresponsible country.

Lol, people should just importing products from China unless they do their own safety checks on the stuff they import first, it is been known for years that the quality of China's export isn't even to be called poor.

I don't expect things made in China to last for a long time or be top quality. But, I also don't expect them to be lethal and then for them to deny there even was a problem. Unfortunately, neither do the companies and countries that are importing these products and then using them to make other products for sale. In the case of Panama, they imported it from SPAIN and had no way of knowing it was really from China.

They might have thought it's cheaper which I would say not really since it costs many lives.

Hi, The dollar amount for producing the two chemicals is a lot less for the antifreeze, so the company selling it makes a bigger profit. The end price is about the same so the buyer loses all the way. Especially, when the buyer is a government trying to provide medicine to it's people at a reasonable cost. The additional medical costs of trying to treat the resulting illness adn the loss of life is a lot greater.

The disaster in Bhopal,India which was caused by the American company, Union Carbide, was inexusable and should have resulted in that company going out of existence as unfit to operate on this planet. Guess what? Union Carbide did go out of existence. They were bought out completely by Dow Chemical. Union Carbide was called to account for what they did. It can be argued their penalty was not severe enough, and I agree with that. Still, the fact of the matter is that they were held accountable. Now, it is China's turn to called to account for the damage they do.

I agree. If one of our companies pulled a stunt like this, our own government would hold them acountable and the law suits, fines and other actions against them would be significant. Instead, China, one of the oldest civilizations on this planet, is running around like a 2 - year old shouting "Not Me! Not Me!" when the proof is very plain for the entire world to see.
