My house looks like a bomb went off!

Two weeks ago, my daughter, with her two kids, moved back home after an abusive relationship. I love them dearly, and would rather them be here than there, but we've all been ill the past few days and I am finally looking at he state of the house while I round up the laundry. Its only a large 1 bedroom basement suite. It truly looks like a garbage bomb went off! Dirty dishes piled in the kitchen, clothes everywhere, both clean and dirty, and the mess that small kids make everywhere. To top it off, the baby got into my quilting this morning, before I got up and that is spread amongst the mess in the living room. I truly don't know where to start, and I've just realized that I've run out of garbage bags. i truly don't know how young families cope with 2 or 3 childrn in a small apartment.

I know your daughter has had a hard time lately but she needs to help you. You need to ask her to help with her own children. Cleaning up behind them and watching them so they don't get into things are important. I know this time is was just your quilt but next time it could be something bad.

She is better at it than I am, but she has been ill as well, and working on top of it. We just let things slide this weekend. Now, while her ex boyfriend is at work, she's gone to get some things from the house so her kids can have a better time here. I hope she thinks to bring some toys that keeps the baby occupied.

FIrst of all, BIG hugs to you!! I know how that can be. Start with something easy that will look big. That way you have a small accomplishment under your belt to keep you fired up. Maybe put all the dirty clothes in a basket or in a pile. When you are able to see your floors and stuff again, you will feel better. Now, I need some mitivation to get up and go clean my house too. Good luck!

I started with laundry, as it has to get done, and it was all over the place. I have one load in the dryer, one in the washer, and another outside the laundry room door. I can see parts of the floor again.

My house looks like a bomb went off on in it too but that was because I was trying to get all my laundry done and and get my hubby packed for his trip out of town with work. I will be cleaning it up today since its the first time I've had by myself for quite some time. :) I had my sisters kids who were 11 months apart when they were 1 and 2 and I thought I was gonna die trying to keep it cleaned up. I'm glad I only have one now.
