Eurosport issued a poll asking who is, in your opinion, the best player to have played for Manchester United since Alex Ferguson arrived at the club. The nominees are and temporary results are: David Beckham - 10% Eric Cantona - 31% Roy Keane - 15% Cristiano Ronaldo - 15% Paul Scholes - 6% Ruud van Nistelrooy - 5% Other - 2% What's your opinion? I believe that we can't compare what Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved with the club to the great performances of someone like Giggs, Cantona or Beckham. At least, not yet.

Well, which Neville are you thinking about? Both are pretty good players and defenders for their time. They are a part of the unstoppable force of the Red Devil's team a couple of ywars back. Also players like Nicky Butt are worth remembering. Maybe he was y favorite player from the Manchester United team. Cheers! :)

I vote for Roy Keane.

My vote still goes to Cristiano Ronaldo based on his future potential. True that he's not a Cantona yet, but he's really been playing very well and given time, he might be given a chance for greater things as compared to the lacklustre rooney.

What if he will be transfered to another team?

Normally, you are right. But, didn't that happen with Beckham too?

If he does get transferred, I think Ferguson will pull out all his white hair! ;p But seriously, this is a problem that every top manager faces - you build up a team, you make them great, and everyone else will try to poach your players. But Ferguson has an edge, he's the one who gave Ronaldo his big break and believed in him after the world cup 2006. That builds trust and loyalty.

Why Cristiano Ronaldo? What trophies did the team with him in the squad? You can't compare his performances with those of Giggs, Beckham or Cantona...

Very difficult to call since he has brought up lot of players to top. Cantona would be the first. I really liked David Beckham. Giggs is also a really good player who has played under him ever since. I agree on the point that Ronaldo will still take time to reach those potential. I had seen him 2 yrs back and now He has improved a lot. Now he looks more like a complete player. Ferguson is the best COACH!!!

I am a bit disappointed that nobody mentioned any of the two members of a true goalscoring machine: Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

I will vote for Eric Cantona. At that time Man Utd did not has so much good player as now.

Solskjaer is indeed a player that proved his loyalty for the club, and has been there in the best years

Giggs - I just love to see his deft dribbling skills and run at defenders. As for Cantona, he's a legend in his own time. And if I can go further back in time, then George Best and Bobby Charlton are also my all-time favourite players of ManU.

In my opinion the best player to have played during the Ferguson era is the Wing wizzard, Ryan Giggs. Cantona was the king of the football field, Keane had the passion of a winner, scholes has an intelligent decisions, Beckham had the killer passes but no one like giggs has performed on the biggest stage consistently for a decade. All the fullbacks were scared of him all the time and he is still playing great at the later stage of his career.

Giggs ended his international career yesterday with a draw against the Czech Republic. It's a pity a fine player like him couldn't make it to a final Tournament.
