How do magicians or illusionists do that?

Ok, waving the cards and guessing the numbers isn't always so thrilling. But anyone who's seen Criss Angel (on Oprah Monday) or David Blaine know what I'm talking about when I say "now THAT is magic!".
These people walk on water, make actual people out of a crowd disappear, levitate themselves and others.
HOW do they do this? Are you as impressed as me?

I saw Chriss Angel Oprah today and he blew my mind. I think these guts are so good they are almost scary. I know my brain is saying it is not magic but eyes are try to tell me it is!!!LOL

There is no real magic...only the art of deceiving the audience's collective mind. David Blaine is really good at this but he totally has a creepy feeling about him. Over the years I have enjoyed David Copperfield, Doug Henning, and Blackstone Jr. very thoroughly. I also worked as a magician's assistant for several years in my teens. I have been sworn to silence for life... and I'm NOT telling.

But these guys aren't like Doug Henning, etc. where it's slight of hand. Oh I agree, it's not real "magic" but still.... to be able to walk across water with people in the same pool you just walked across? HOW!!!!? LOL The magicians, like Copperfield and Henning, etc. are more slight of hand types. Blaine and Angel are more mind bending I think. That's what amazes me most!!!!

I don't know how they do it but some of them are really good at what they do. I like watching David Blaine.

You have GOT to go look at Criss Angel. I swear he is just as amazing as David Blaine, if not more. I understand slight of hand stunts and I'm not overly amazed at those. But the ones where they walk in water, float above a crowd, etc. are amazing!
