Hello all, I am just going to start going to the gym for the first time in a long time b/c i have gained weight from a condition that i have. My question for all of you is what type of workout plan should i use.....the last time i did other than just cardio was when i was in school and our teacher helped make our routine so i have never done it on my own. if anyone could give me a good web site or a good routine i would be very greatful. i am still looking to do cardio but i would like to also build back some muscle tone...thanks in advance~

when you go the gym for the first time they should give you a free gym induction and this means a personal trainer will show you around the gym and machines. if youre just starting out after your induction you could do jogging for 5 minutes, the treadmill for 5 minutes and then do 8 times for each of the machines - like the ones for your arms and legs. then you could try a beginners workout class theyll probably have aerobics a toning class and some stretching. a good site for fitness and going to the gym is helium they have a lot of short free articles to look at and include working out in the gym ive written some articles and was going to start some on going to the gym heres the link http://www.helium.com/user/show/145397 and i also have some exercise tips at my blog http://www.blogchex.com/urbancitycrew these may give you an idea of what to expect in a class aswell im adding some workout videos aswell as soon as i find out how to upload them hope this helps this site is good aswell and has a lot on exercise and fitness http://www.fitstep.com

I would just ask the gym owner if I were you, although the muscle groups are easy to tell it'll depend on how and what to do depending on the equipment available. Just tell him what you would want to train and they should be able to give you a good scheme for it.
