CRT vs LCD

I still use a crt monitor here at home. Due to our rising monthly electricity bills I decided to initiate some cost cutting measures on our usage of home appliances and I decided to include my computer. I've heard that an LCD monitor consumes less power compared to the traditional CRT monitor. Is this true? Can someone enlighten me on this?

Yes, you are right. LCD monitors consumes less power than CRT monitors. I had a 17 inches CRT monitor and, reading its manual, I realized that is power consumption was 100 Watt per hour. Last year I bought a 19 inches LCD monitor and its consumption is 40 Watt per hour. So, even if my new LCD monitor is bigger than the old one, I can save 60 Watt per hour.
