Do you give tips when you eat in restaurants or do you ask to "keep the change"

When you eat in restaurants, do you leave tips for the waiter/waitress? Do you think it is compulsory to leave tips for them? Personally, i give tips only if i find the service really good. There are some restaurants wherein the waiters will really take care of you from the moment you sit down until you leave. But there are also some wherein they wont even bother to look at you and sometimes even try to pretend they dont see you calling them!! I feel that in some restaurants, the waiters are expecting that you leave some tip for them regardless of the service and sometimes, i will feel shy if i didnt leave some even if i didnt find the service that good.

It's always nice to give tips to restaurant staffs specially when their service is deemed good. More likely, i give even much when my wallet is full. In such a small tip, we can show our recognition to their service.

Yes I always leave tips. I'm really not a big tipper, but I'd like to leave something even if it's just a little bit. I know that some waiters don't take care of you well but that 's really ok with me as long as they're not rude. I know that their job is tiring and they don't get paid a lot so this tips I know help them a little.

I usually pay tips. Even if the service is not that satisfactory, I use to pay. The waiter is under the hope of getting tips. Why should I topple his hopes. So I pay. I feel nice after paying tips. Yes.

Its all upto you whether you like to give the tips or not.. if you liked the way the waiters treated you, feel free to give them the change... And more over its YOUR MONEY............

I didn't leave tips to the waiter/waitress in the local restaurants because it is not our customs to do so. Even if you did it, you'd be considered to have been out of your sense by the waiter or waitress. and it's probably they dare not accept your tips. But in hotels, it's natural that I give tips to the boys who help taking your luggage to your rooms or the waitresses who serve you at your table at dinner time.

I wouldn't leave a tip if the waitress/waiter was a disaster. Otherwise I always do. If the server is good than I leave a good tip, if the server is bad, I still would leave a tip but just a small one. If its an absolute horrible server, than I wouldn't tip them. Thats only ever happend once though. I was at IHOP and this waitress COMPLETELY forgot about me. My boyfriend and I had to wait 10 minutes to get the bill, and we finally had to go up and ask someone for it. We also had to listen to her talking loudly with the other waitresses through out our entire meal.

Friend, i usually do it by saying keep the change.. I was born and brought up in a backward place where there is no habit of giving tips at the hotels..But two years ago i have came to a city for doing my engineering degree. Here i use to go to good hotels and as the custom i give them tips..But it depends on their service ..If i ever felt any dislike with their service i will never give it.. Also i will take the food into consideration when i give tip..If the food is good they will get the reward for that.. Wish you good luck with mylot..

Honestly when I'm alone eating in a restaurant I used to leave some coins as tips, but when I'm with my wife, she will take all the change hehe. Well, as per my own opinion, It's still best to give tips, its one motivation also for those waiters and waitresess to give their best in serving their customers and of course tips are also a big help for them especially when they are only receiving a very low salary.

I always tip. :) Unless the service is just terribly bad. :( But most of the time I get good service. :) So, I tip. :)
