Have you ever been on a cruise?

Have you ever been on a cruise vacation? Where did you go? What cruise line did you take? Would you go again? I've only been on one; I enjoyed it but I am not a good sailor. I went to Greece and Italy, but I always wanted to go on a cruise to Alaska or South America. Where have you been?

I haven't been on a cruise and to be honest I don't really fancy the idea much. I'm not really that keen on boat travel in general and I just feel I would probably get bored. I do know lots of people that have been on cruises and they all tell me that wouldn't happen because there is so much to do, etc but I'm not convinced.

Boat travel does not agree well with me either, and I would really have to want to go to the place the cruise went to sign up. Some places (like Antarctica or the Galapagos, it's the only way to get there). I think that most folks think of cruising as the huge mega-ship with casinos, karoke, and bad Broadway reviews, but there are educational ships. The one I was on was smaller, more focused on educational stuff (vs. entertainment, although there was some of that). I know what you are saying, however, the thought of being aboard a Spring Break party boat to Mexico does not appeal much to me either. Different strokes for different folks.

Yes, I have been on about 3 cruises and they all went to the Caribbean. They are so nice because they do everything for you. I would definitely go on another one, however I think I would like to do a European cruise like you did Greece and Italy, that sounds nice :). Maybe even Alaska. Have a nice day. Pablo

I have never been on a cruise and always wanted to go. I do plan on taking a short cruise to the Bahamas in the near future. I am saving for it, anyway. I would also like to take an Alaskan cruise. The one cruise I really have my heart set on, however, is a mystery cruise. The kind where the passengers can be a part of a mystery play if they want to. I think that would be so much fun!

I've tried to go to the Bahamas twice, and my plans were ruined both times (once it was 9/11, so I guess I was lucky to be in Florida instead of stuck outside the country...I was at a conference and had tickets to go after the conference was over). I'd still like to get there someday; it looks like a beautiful place from the photos, but somehow the Bahamas now seem unlucky to me.

I went on a one day cruise to a city in the Bahamas. I forget which cruise line it was with. I have always wanted to go on another cruise at some point. I think I would like to do a transatlantic cruise.

You must be a good sailor. While a transatlantic journey (on the Queen Mary?) sounds good, I know I could never handle those rough seas, even with the sea sickness medication they give you. Still, it would be a great adventure! Hope you can go.

Part of it is facing my fear. I would need to be on a huge cruise ship though. When I was in Tahiti I saw a sailboat (under 50 ft I think) that had come from Annapolis, MD (30 minutes from my house). That is not something I would try.

Cruise Ship SS Constitution - aerial photo of the once glorious cruise ship the SS Constitution....almost got to travel to Spain on this ship when I was assigned to the US Embassy in Madrid.
I haven't been on an ocean or sea cruise but have been on lots of tourist cruises in cities and coastlines. In 1963 when I was assigned to the Embassy in Spain I had my tickets to travel by the SS Constitution but when I got to Washington after home leave I was told that I had to get to Spain immediately and therefore couldn't go by boat. It's the closest I ever got....but I do hope one day to go on a cruise to the Greek islands. A Portuguese friend of mine who lives in the apt. building across the court is Captain of the Portuguese cruise ship Funchal and he is always trying to get me to go. However, with the dollar exchange the way it is now I am losing almost 40% of my pension so it is a little difficult to save my pennies. Too bad he couldn't invite me. I still have "aspirations" of winning a good sum (not millions) in the lottery. hehehe.

Greece is a beautiful country and seeing it by ship is a good way because there are so many islands. Even if you only get to Athens, it is still great, so much historical treature there, like the Acropolis.

I went on my first cruise to the Bahamas last June; I was so excited to be going; Next year if God willing,I will be going out again hopefully to Cozumel; I have a lot of time to pay and plan accordingly, so I am certainly looking forward to this.

I've been to Cozumel (not on a cruise) and it is one of my favorite places in the world. I sure hope you get to go, but one day there won't be enough. There are some beautiful Mayan ruins near by where you can do swimming. There are also some lovely beaches and nature areas. It's great for snorkeling and especially scuba diving (if you know how).

I've never been on a cruise, but I would love to go on one. My husband and I were looking into a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon, but it was too expensive and we didn't want to cut back on any of the wedding expenses, so we didn't go. I would love to take a cruise to some exotic island, or maybe even a Disney cruise with my kids.

How was the Bahamas? I've made plans to go there twice and they've been ruined both times. The last time I tried to go I was down in Florida and was supposed to leave after a conference I was attending. Then 9-11 happened, so we cancelled the Bahamas and just stayed in Miami.
