gilchirst use foreign material (squash ball) during his batting in world cup final. which helped him very much in scoring runs n australia beat srilanka. Is it cheating as using foreign material is nt allowed.

You are right right Adam Gilchirst used Squash Ball during his batting time in his gloves. It is first time for any to use that as far I know. Australian Coach had suggest Gili to do so. I don't know enough that is it right or wrong. So remark is unnecessary. Ofcourse, Gili baded well on the World Cup final 2007.

I dont think he did anything wrong, whether by law or by ethics. He is one of the most honest guys around in today's cricket. If it was something wrong, he would'nt have done it.

well i agree with the fact that Adam is one of the few good or honest men in the field today but using a squash ball to improve batting , i really didn't get the fact behind it. yes , if for better grip ,as said by Adam , then i don't have any problem and have full faith in Adam. I have also read in the newspaper that Melbourne Cricketing Academy (MCA) has given a clean chit to Adam and says that it is not an offense to use a squash ball. i really don't know the facts but want to know.

I think he used the squash ball only in his gloves which is not against the law. And this in no way can help his batting but rather will tend to improve his grip on the bat which is not a wrong thing to do. The fact that he has used a squash ball doesnt improve his chances as a hitter. He is always a great hitter by any standards. No matter if he had used the squash ball or not, one thing was sure, he was about to breathe fire on the Srilankans on that pitch. Frankly the pitch they played on offered no help to the bowlers and so by all means he would have played that kind of innings. Remember he is a very big match player, he has 3 consecutive world cup final fifties to his name. And on two occassions (2003 and 2007) he has seized the initiative from the opponents right from the very beginning.
