I took my dad to his family Dr yesterday morning. (Monday) Things are looking a lot better but still not totally good for his age. He had an EKG and his heart still shows a slight irregularity in it's rate. So now he is going to monitored closer. He has to see the Dr once a month. Today he had bloood tests done for cholesterol, sugar, and thyroid. I'll know those results tomorrow or Thursday. So all in all he is looking good and feeling good. I have to say though the Drs clinic has a lot of halls and between him walking from the car into the clinic then to the check up room to the lab then back to the check up room then to the car he got a months worth of exercise yesterday alone. He did the same today. Yesterday after the Drs appointment he slept on and off all day. Hahaha. That made my day really easy. I'd also at this time once again thank all friends and other members for the caring comments etc in the past few weeks regarding my father. it meant so much to me to see this kind of support etc from total strangers. Thanks one and all. You all deserve a special award but I'm all out of gold stars. hahaha. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM HGRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't have anyone in the family having a heart problem. It must be pretty stressful on your part to check on your dad almost everyday. I'm grateful that your dad is getting a little better. So you are also doing a lot of exercises, eh. Its good for the heart anyway. Just reserve some of those gold stars for me if you have them again, LOL. Happy posting, grandpa.

I hate the fact that SOMEDAY I'll find my father passed away as this is where he said he wishes to die. Not in a hospital etc. Everytime he is sleeping I have a tendancy to stare at his chest to be sure he is breathing. So yes it's a heck of a lot of stress taking care of him. My exercise is gotten in the form of my walking a lot daily and doing my garden and yard work. That's a lot actually I feel. Thank you for the response also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Oh yes, grandpa, I understand what you're feeling. I lost both my parents years ago. But we both know that we all have to leave everything behind someday. Embraced your time with your dad. Treasured each moment and keep them close to your heart.

I love the way you talk about your Dad and the very good care that give him Grandpa Bob. I hope that he recovers sooner than you expected since he is getting a lot of exercise even in the doctors office.

I'm not really back, just having a little play is all, the garden seems to be entertaining me at the moment and trying to get these boys of mine back under control, lol. It's been cold today so I thought I'd catch up a bit, got list of things I want to reply to so I'm going to try to do a few a day. Take care y'all and big hugs!

Thanks for the update on your dad. It's such a blessing and a priviledge for you and your family, that you have him with you still. I lost both of my parents at an early age, my dad when I was five, and my mom when I was nineteen. It's great to see your love, and care for your dad. I have the feeling that if some of us didn't live so far apart, we'd be able to share an offline friendship, as I've already gotten to know some great people on here ... including you. God Bless!

Where do you live again? hahahaha. I thank you for the compliments also as those mean more to me than anything else especially coming from sort of complete strangers. The last comment about knowing me was also unexpected yet greatly appreciated too. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Glad to hear your dad is doing better, Grandpa Bob. If going to the dr. and walking down all those hallways is the only thing to get him walking then maybe he should have a dr. appointment every day. lol j/k Glad to hear he walked to his dr. appointment instead of using a wheelchair. Have Buster tell your dad he needs to go for a walk every day and insist that dad is the only one that takes him. Domingo can never wait till evening for his walk. He meets me at the door and begs to go soon as I get home from work. It's just not the same for him as running around the yard. He likes to look at what is going on up and down the street and can't unless I go with him. Will be waiting for you next post on the test results. Praying that they are all fine. Take care, Grandpa Bob, as well as your whole family.

Glad to hear that he is doing good. Heart problems run deep in my family. I have 8 aunts & 6 of them have heart problems. I am 20 yrs old & one of my cousins is 23. We both have irregaler heart beats & are suppose to be on medication for it. I have a huge family of 87 cousins. Almost all of them have heart trouble from the time they are in there teens. I hope your dad gets completely better soon!

yes as you grow older the heart becomes weaker and on top of that the current hectic lifestyle and food increases the blood pressure and cholesterol, you have to be careful in this as great care is to be taken in order to maintain good heart...... i think your dad is gonna be fine, he just has to watch the food eating habits and take his medications if any regularly, i have seen many old patients like him and i know that he will be alright if he follows the doctors orders.......and you do not worry, just monitor him as the doc says......

No need to remind me. hahahaha! I've been his care giver for 3 years now. he is on a total of 8 meds and I am the one like a nurse to give them to him. We are all on a low fat low sodium diet also. So the food intake is good now also. Thanks for the response also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sending prayers out your way is the easy part. You're handling the hard part. I really commend you on finding the time to thank your supporters, shows you're good stuff Grandpa Bob. While we want the ones we love to live on forever of course we know it won't happen but when time comes for your father to part ways you can feel good knowing you've done a great job inspite of the way life used to be. Keep up the good work and I always say my prayers for my myLot friends, they've all been good to me too. Take Care my friend.

I am glad to hear the your Father, although he still has problems, is getting along okay. As long as he takes his medication, eats well, & gets some pleasurable activities in his life, then that is all one can ask for. Caring for your Father is certainly a lot of work, but I suspect that you will feel rewarded, emotionally, in the long run. I know, as I cared for late husbanmd at home until the last 3 weeks of his terminal brain cancer.
