pot holders - Mother's Day pot holders. Gift for Mother's Day.

I'm attaching a picture of the Mother's Day gift that my daycare children will be giving their moms. It's a pot holder with the childs handprint on it, it also has their name, year, and it says Happy Mother's Day. I sewed a nice ribbon across the top of the pot holder to dress it up a bit. I had to do that part since my little guys are small and couldn't do it. Each child will also be making a cute card for their moms. I will give each child a large sheet of plain paper to decorate and they will use that as the wrapping paper.

Those are really cute. I love homemade gifts. Almost my entire Christmas tree is decorated with homemade ornaments from the kids. It may not look "expensive and neat" but it means so much to me. I keep them all safe in a shoe box to use each year. I know that one day, when they are all grown up, I'll be decorating the tree (crying probably, I'm such a baby) remembering each and every one !!

I have many Christmas tree ornaments that my own kids made when they were little. They are the first ornaments to go on the tree every year. A couple of the ornaments have their pictures on them. It's amazing to look at them and see how much the kids have grown.

These look wonderful! Thank you for sharing your idea with us. I also do inhome daycare (just started up last fall) and also teach 3-5 year olds at our church. We are always looking for new and different craft ideas.

They were inexpensive to make also. I paid $1.00 per pot holder and then $1.00 for the package of lace. I already had the fabric paint. I did have to buy the fabric pen so I could write on the pot holders.

yes, those are darling keepsakes. a treasure to remember just how small those hands were, when..... I would have liked to receive such a gift from my children. I would think the children's mothers will very much like these thoughtful gifts and the time you took to help the child create it.

Thank you! I'm hoping they will love them. It was so hard for me to come up with a project this year. I think after doing daycare for 20 years, I was just running out of ideas.

Those potholders are really cute. I once got a mothers day card from my son that was made in daycare. He had a little poem on it as well as his handprint. Handprints There are always so many of my fingerprints to see, On the furniture and walls from sticky, grubby me, But if you stop and think a while, You'll see I'm growing fast, Those little handprints will disappear, You can't bring back the past. So here's a small reminder, To keep not throw away, Of how those tiny hands once looked, To make you smile one day. or I also have this one in which my daughter brought home from school. Handprints Sometimes you get discouraged Because I am so small And always leave my handprint On furniture and wall But everyday I'm growing (I'll be all grown someday) And all those tiny hand prints Will surely fade away. So here's a final handprint Just so you can recall Exactly how my fingers looked When they were very small. © T. Lambert, Jr. May 1978 I always thought that it was so cute when my children brought this kind of stuff home to me. I cherish each one that I get. Happy Mothers Day!!

I would LOVE it if I got a pot holder like that from my daughter. they are so adorable. I think in general Moms love antyhing hand made from their children and really don't mind if there was some help from another adult. I think you are doing a wonderfuly job allowing the kids to do what they can. Decorating their own wrapping paper is a great idea.

That is really a nice gift that you had your children make for their mothers. And I like the first response you got with the little poems.

Those are really awesome!! I think I should make one with Alexi's hand prints on them and just save them so when we make our little garden this year I can use that pot. I'm sure the mom's will love it.
