Peace through world domination?

Reflection on the history of humans, there is an uncomfortable thought that has been forming in my mind. After the fighting and bloodshed of ancient conquers, there always seem to be a period of peace. Perhaps the people involved are too spent to fight anymore, or perhaps we only understand the need for peace through the lack of it.
Should that be true, then are we humans seeking for yet another conquer to show us peace?

Peace will never exist in this world, there are too many cultures and religions playing part in it. Even the cultures which were in peace had civil wars due to the different opinions from the people.
