Have you ever lived through a devastating tornado?

Greensburg, Kansas after the tornado of 5-4-2007 - This pictures seems to be what's left of the Greensburg water tower after a devastating tornado wiped out the entire town. Only 10 people lost their lives in what could have been a much greater tragedy.

The tornado last Friday night that hit Greensburg, Kansas was horrible and destructive. An entire towen gone. The only thing left standing is the grain elevator. So very sad.

Oh dear, I have some idea what you went through. My co-worker came to us from the Katrina Hurricane, her family took refuge in Kansas. SHe has a large extended family anmd only a small few are still in Louisiana. They are spread out all over the country now. Her and her family are doing well here. She has not been back but her husband and oldest son have. They lived in a third floor apartment and lost everything. Her sister was first to go back and said it's all ruined, she told her the water line was almost to the ceiling. I am very pleased to know you are doing ok.

I know what you mean, the fear these people must feel now at even the slightest bit of rain or wind, wondering if it will be like this again. It is so sad. I am just thankful that they did have a 20 minute warning and were able to get most of the town under cover.

A cutie - Here is a little cutie to give you a smile.
It is very sad and the town has got a long way to go to recover so I know that all help will be appreciated I am gonna see what we can do in the town I live in to help to get them some supplies the weather can not make up its mind and I fear they may get more unwanted bad weather before they can even begin the rebuild.I have been in a tornado once and I will never forget the welps I had from the ice pellets hitting me they were so hard and it hurt so I can only imagine what this town is going through will keep them in my prayers though.

That was very sad, as all devasting natural causes are. I have not lived though a bad one, but we get small sand or dust tornadoes that do damage here. I have also lived though a few earthquakes and hurricanes.

Although I grew up with a lot of tornados hitting my area we never had ones that devastating. We've had some here in Florida that bad but again thankfully not near me. I feel for everyone who is in that town and my heart and thoughts go out to their famlies. I can only imagine what they are going through and that I know is no where near the reality of the situation.

I think that we are very lucky to live in a country where tornadoes are nearly never seen. It's terrible what has happened to that town, due to such unfortunate events! It is necessary to be confident in the future. I think that climatologists will be able to give an answer to such a puzzling problem as that of making forecasts of cataclysmic events more and more useful in the prevention of disasters and victims. There is still a lot to do and to work.
