I recdeived this story from one of my friend wanted to share with allmy friends so postiong here also.. Its a story of a average indian boy with more than average dreams. As the dream of most parents he had acquired a degree in Software Engineering and joined a company based in USA , The land of braves and opportunity. When he arrived in the USA , it was as if a dream had come true. Here at last he was in the place where he want to be. he decided he would be staying in this country for about Five years in which time he would have earned enough money to settle down in India . His father was a government employee and after his retirement, the only asset he could acquire was a decent one bedroom flat. he wanted to do some thing more than him. he started feeling homesick and lonely as the time passed. he used to call home and speak to his parents every week using cheap international phone cards. Two years passed, two years of Burgers at McDonald 's and pizzas and discos and 2 years watching the foreign exchange rate getting happy whenever the Rupee value went down. Finally he decided to get married. Told his parents that he have only 10 days of holidays and everything must be done within these 10 days. he got his ticket booked in the cheapest flight. Was jubilant and was actually enjoying hopping for gifts for all his friends back home. If he miss anyone then there will be talks. After reaching home he spent home one week going through all the photographs of girls and as the time was getting shorter he was forced to select one candidate. In-laws told him, to his surprise, that he would have to get married in 2-3 days, as he will not get anymore holidays. After the marriage, it was time to return to USA , after giving some money to his parents and telling the neighbors to look after them, we returned to USA . his wife enjoyed this country for about two months and then she started feeling lonely. The frequency of calling India increased to twice in a week sometimes 3 times a week. Their savings started diminishing. After two more years we started to have kids. Two lovely kids, a boy and a girl, were gifted to us by the almighty. Every time he spoke to his parents, they asked him to come to India so that they can see their grand-children. Every year he decide to go to India .. But part work part monetary conditions prevented it. Years went by and visiting India was a distant dream. Then suddenly one day he got a message that his parents were seriously sick. he tried but he couldn 't get any holidays and thus could not go to India .. The next message he got was his parents had passed away and as there was no one to do the last rights the society members had done whatever they could. he was depressed. his parents had passed away without seeing their grand children. After couple more years passed away, much to his children 's dislike and his wife 's joy they returned to India to settle down. he started to look for a suitable property, but to his dismay his savings were short and the property prices had gone up during all these years. he had to return to the USA .. his wife refused to come back with him and his children refused to stay in India .. his 2 children and he returned to USA after promising his wife he would be back for good after two years. Time passed by, his daughter decided to get married to an American and his son was happy living in USA .. he decided that had enough and wound-up every thing and returned to India . he had just enough money to buy a decent 02 bedroom flat in a well-developed locality. Now he was 60 years old and the only time he go out of the flat is for the routine visit to the nearby temple. his faithful wife has also left him and gone to the holy abode. Sometimes he wondered was it worth all this? his father, even after staying in India , had a house to his name and he too have the same nothing more. he lost his parents and children for just ONE EXTRA BEDROOM. Looking out from the window he see a lot of children dancing. This damned cable TV has spoiled their new generation and these children are losing their values and culture because of it. he get occasional cards from his children asking if he was alright. Well at least they remembered him. Now perhaps after he die it will be the neighbors again who will be performing his last rights, God Bless them. But the question still remains 'was all this worth it? ' just for an extra room in the flat.

hi laltu. the story is really a lesson to ponder to all those who are aspiring to make a fortune by going abroad. no doubt many people are and have made handsome money by going abroad but the guy in the story although had a lot of aspiration to make a fortune couldnt eventually due to the changing circumstances. i think he should have got a property first before getting married if that was his main intention. and trying to be so possessive about oneself at the cost of parents is rediculous. i guess if one has enough skill he can make wonders being in his own land being among all loved ones.
