We have been buying used.. We figure why pay the big price and have it depreciate so fast. I got my car two years old with almost no miles on it and a 5 year warranty with a great price. So what makes you decide new or used?

I decide basically on price and my current needs. I have brought both new and used. Used are less expensive and can be very good. However, about three years ago I purchased new because I needed a car in order to get to work but was strapped financially. I found a deal on a dealer special - a sale where they offered a limited number of brand new cars at a very low price. I got the last one (4 were offered but three sold before I arrived). It was a Kia Rio with no a/c, radio or other amenities but the price was under $8,000 and since I wasn't trading in my current car (which was on its last legs but my wife needed it to get to work) and couldn't afford a downpayment, I took that one as, new cars don't need a downpayment and the price was close to used car price anyway. It has been a great car for getting to and from work (but a little warm in our Tucson summers). The next car we brought was a much better one, in terms of comfort but was used and more expensive - we were better off financially by then and that car proved to be the best deal. So there are many things to consider and I feel the choice is based largly one's circumstances and desires at the time of purchase.

I just bought a 2006 car at a dealer that had 1400 miled on it. The manager of the dealership had driven it and then decided to turn it back to the dealership and sell it. I got an amazing deal on the car which came fully loaded with every extra including leather, heated seats and a sunroof. We took the time to really shop around to get the best deal on a car which also had a full warranty and great financing as well.
