Left over spaghetti Ideas!

Okay I need some help. When ever I make spaghetti for dinner I always have left over spaghetti sauce. Normally I just make more noodles the next day and we have left overs, but now I am trying to find other ideas of things to cook using the left over sauce. Now keep in mind my spaghetti sauce is homemade and not the kind that comes in a jar. Plus I put ground beef and sausage in it as well. So do any of you have any ideas of things I could use this with to make a new meal instead of having spaghetti two nights in a row? I was thinking about a spaghetti casserole but not sure how that would work. Please help!!!

Have you ever tried spaghetti pie? You take about 6 oz. of cooked spaghetti and combine it with 2 eggs and 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese, toss togther. Use a greased deep dish pie pan and press the spaghetti mixture over the bottom and up the sides to form the crust. Mix 1 can of corn that has been drained into the sauce, spoon mixture on to the crust. Place a few slices of bell ppper for the next layer, sprinkle with about 1-1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes.

Yum that sounds delicious. Now when you say cooked spaghetti you are meaning the sauce not the noodles right. Sorry I know this may sound like a silly question but its late I'm tired and I just want to make sure I understand it right. Cause when I think of cooked spaghetti for some reason I think of the noodles.

Okay thanks for clearing that up, but I was looking for ideas for my leftover homemade sauce. Not the noodles. I only make enough noodles for that night and never have noodles left over, just the sauce.

What I would do is freeze it, until the next time you have spaghetti. I make homeade meat sauce as well and that's what I do, it makes it easy for the next time we have pasta! That's what I do because I am like you and don't know what else to do with it!

Yes, I was going to suggest freezing it for using next time as this is what I do. Simple, and saves time.

How about you use that left over sauce in cooking a whole new vegetable dish like you can combine it with potatoes, cabbage or sweet peas or green peas, and mushroom. Or you can make a home made pizza and use that left over sauce on top.

Again I think I already said this up top but I am not looking for different ways to make spaghetti sauce. I like the way I make my spaghetti sauce just the way it is. I am looking for ways that I can use the leftover spaghetti sauce in other recipes. Can nobody read lately!!!!!

I would make some lasagna with the left over sauce....it would be wonderful....Simply boil your lasgna noodles, line your pan, add a layer of sauce, a layer of ricco chesse (or cottage cheese works well also), the continue this pattern until ending with a layer of sauce......bake in oven at 350 for 45min-1 hour....serve with garlic toast!

Okay well I love Italian food but I have to confess I am not a big fan of Lasgna. But it might actually be good using my sauce, since I really like my homemade sauce. I will have to give that a try. I know my husband would probably like it since he loves lasgna.

I almost forgot....be sure to spray the pan with "PAM" so it will serve easily and it helps with cleaning up the pan too!

Thanks so much for awarding me with the "best response". Have you tried your sauce in lasagna yet??? Bet your husband likes it so much better with your sauce...

A spaghetti casserole is pretty tasty. Use mostaccioli noodles, top with sauce and shredded cheese, bake until heated through and cheese is bubbly. Another great way to use leftover spaghetti sauce to make an entirely different meal is to use it for pizza sauce. Pick up some pizza crust mix, cheese, and toppings, and there you go. Or, make French bread pizza bread. You can even do individual pizzas on Texas toast, bagels, or English muffins. Your kids will have a great time "building" their own pizzas.

Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas. You actually just made me remember that my mom used to take the leftover sauce and put it on bread with a slice of cheese on top and pop it in the oven until heated through. They were like little pizzas. I am glad you helped me remember that. I will also be trying your casserole idea.

I was just in this situation last night! I took the leftover spaghetti sauce and spread it on a tortilla, topped it with cheese and popped it into the oven for a few minutes. The kids thought it was great! I have done the same thing with sauce and leftover hot dog or hamburger buns. Sometimes I freeze the leftover sauce and use it the next time we have spaghetti. It is a real time saver!

I always make extra spagetti sauce when I cook and freeze it in ziplock bags. It is the meal we have when we are too lazy to buy take away. Its quicker, cheaper and healthier too. Just boil fresh noodles and heat the sauce in the microwave.

Here's a fun, tastey treat. Place opened hamburger buns on a baking pan. Put a slice of american cheese on each bun. Put a heaping spoon full of spaghetti sauce on each slice of cheese. Sprinkle sharp cheddar cheese over the spaghetti sauce. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees until the cheddar cheese is completely melted. Then serve. It's delicious and fun to eat. Try it and enjoy.

Spaghetti sauce freezes well, so you can always seal it up and throw in the freezer for a future meal. Or, if you like eggplant, you could make a quicky eggplant parmigiana.

I see your new and you are just probably trying to respond to every discussion that you can so you can earn as much money as possible. But a little word to the wise. If don't have anything helpful to say to a discussion then don't respond!!!

I usually make a rice cassrole. Combine cooked rice with the sauce if you want to add some veggie then do so. Top with cheese and bake at 350 degree. Serve with garlic bread

You could make mini pizzas which are fun if you have kiddos. All you need are a few canned biscuits and some toppings. Flatten the biscuits, layer on your sauce, and add whatever you desire to the top then throw them in the oven for the time it takes to bake the biscuits. They are easy to make and actually come out tasting pretty good.

One of my favorite things to do with left over tomato sauce, and leftover peppers for that matter is cooking peppers (you can use green bell peppers, or Italian "banana" peppers) in left over tomato sauce. Cook them until they get squishy. Since your sauce is hommade and has meat and sausage in it, if you cook the peppers you will already have the makings for a super yummy sausage and pepper sandwich. Just get some good crust bread and put your sauce/pepper concotion on it. This is one of my favorite sandwiches! The sauce and pepper mixtuer is also awesome with eggs. Use it for an omlet, or with scrambled eggs. Hope this helps a bit!
