Lack of customer service training or just bad attitude?

Two days ago I have called my cable network service provider to reconnect my account. It was actually a simple process. I had to pay the bill at the bank, and then call the customer service to reconnect. Basically, during the call they will ask some numbers printed in the bill to prove I had paid the bill. The problem was, I have to be on the phone with the customer service person for about 15 minutes just to check the number! It was really absurd since there was only one line of infomation I have to read to her! ( for example : THEPLACEIPAIDTHEBILL DATE TIME THENUMBER ) That was all! And she asked to repeat that information like 5-6 times that asked me to wait to check it! Have you ever experienced tings like this?

I can totally relate to both sides of the story. I have a cell phone and no land line at home. When I make calls like the one you describe I like it to be short and quick, it never is. I work as a call taker and I am quick and efficient which is something I can't say about all the call takers here. Some of them like to flirt, others like to talk a lot. I like to get them off the phone! Except when they annoy me or are particularly stupid then I like to play with them and jerk them around. Not that that is the case with you. I guess in reality this job sucks and sometimes the only thing that keeps us sane is screwing over rude people. I think I am rambling off topic now...

Exactly. It cost me all my credit just to reconnect my service. It should take only 5 minutes max. I just think they just did not receive enough training how to handle the clients.

yeah,I have ever experienced similar situation, that really makes me terrible. If you don't know the procesure clearly, the service person will give you a lot excuse to refuse your requirement which really drives crazy!!
