i'm using avast antivirus..so far it's ok, i'm quite satisfied with it. sometimes i also use the online scanner provided by bitdefender, and i totally love it because i find it efficient and effective. back when i was using avg, when i got a virus attack, avg didn't even detect the virus but bitdefender could.

I use AOL Safety and Security Center. It's an all-in-one suite. It has McAfee for antivirus and firewall, and PestPatrol for antispyware. I also use Arovax Shield for extra registry protection, and Folder Guard to lock my system directory to ROM. I'm currently seeking the assistance of a third party in producing a freeware alternative to Folder Guard. If my mission is successful, I will have achieved a 100% free solution that makes a PC virtually invincible.

Oh yeah, I forgot. There is an alternative to Folder Guard that's built right into Windows (provided you're running the NT file system). The Administrator account that's accessible from Safe Mode can set file access permissions for all accounts. From there, you can set the system32 folder to allow reading and execution, while disallowing modification. However, it's nowhere near as convenient as Folder Guard, whose protection can be toggled without any need to reboot. This can be a big deal at times, particularly when you want to install MS Updates on the fly, and not have to download twice or wait for the notification to come up again. :)

I use Avast! as antivirus in my computer. You can visit the web site-www.avast.com-to download the free edition. This software provides good pretection with the on-demand scanner and the resident scanner. The e-mail protection is adequate for POP3, SMTP and IMAP accounts. The AVAST update feature checks for product and virus definition updates at either a user-defined interval or manually. When you do a manual check for updates, you can decide which updates to install. When the software automatically checks for updates, it can update the files at that time or at a time previously specified during setup. The product is very easy to install and I didn't encounter any problems.

Currently I am using Avast 4 Home Edition. I am using it for 2 years, and am almost satisfied. It has a nice real time protection. I downloaded the free version of it from it's site, and got the license key which is valid for 1 year. Then I will have to renew this license again. But it won't cost anytrhing, it is free.

Hi Coolsun85.. Good for you! Well, I am currently using Avira AntiVir Personal Classic Edition, which is a freeware version. I have been using this one for over a longer period of time. Since using this one, I have never had problems at all with regards to the overall function of my machine and system performance of it. Otherwise, I am very impressed and very satisfied with it. It updates regularly and can be scheduled at your most convenient or spare time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, it does not slow down your computer. It detects and deletes rootkits, worms, trojans, viruses, etc. Overall, it does its jobs pretty well. Have a great day and God speed!

I have avery antivir. It is free. It basically is ok. I use it for years and only a couple of times I had to download mcaffee stinger to extract a virus that was faster than the people who make antivir. So basically I am very happy with this product as it is cost free, ready for download on the net.
