The yoga vashishta is a beautiful treatise which deals with the ultimate knowledge of life. Woven with beautiful stories, the yoga vashishta creates such fantasies, eventually making us look at the nature of the mind. It states in many ways how the world is created in our own mind. There is the fantastic story of the brahmin gadhi - who lives whole lifetimes in a moment that he dips into the river for his bath. Hinting at the illusory nature of the world, the yoga vashishta creates an atmosphere where we can really appreciate this fact. Often we think that this world is real. It seems so obviously true. But if we look at it in a different perspective, the world keeps changing every moment. For example, the river remains the same even though the water flowing through it changes every moment. Our body remains the same though the cells that make up this body keeps changing all the time. In the end, this change is what creates variety and life in creation. Imagine if everything were to remain static! It would be so boring.... So change is permanent and permanence is changeable.. jai guru dev Kashi
