Many people find it difficult to speak in front of a crowd may it be one small or big crowd. Some individuals even go blank when it's his turn to speak in front. Like me before, even a simple class report would really get me shaking. Thanks to one of my speech teachers, I already lost that fear now. She gave me some tips in public speaking and those tips helped me greatly. How about you?? Have you got any fear of speaking in front of many people?? If you have, how are you dealing with it?? Please share some stories if you could..

Speaking in public really needs time to practice. It is normal that you feel afraid or something. Now, brain plays an important role here. Then, the heart, if you have a lot of informations stored in your brain, then, you are confident or you have the courage to speak in front of the crowd, the brain and the heart are working together.

Yes I had already an experience wherein although I wasn't shaking, I was so nervous that I forgot what I was about to say...it took many a minutes but then I was able to finish it with enthusiasm. Constant practice is the key to be more confident and successful in what you are about to say.

Well, it's still good to note that you have finished what you need to - though you have become nervous at some points. Thanks for this response!

Thats one of my biggest fears. The last time I had to do it was a few years back. I was taking a website design class and had to present my finished design to the rest of the class. I was an absolute nervous wreck and to make matters worse I still have a pretty thick Scottish accent and people sometimes have a hard time understanding me.

Hi I would add here my experience. I had sort of this problem and fear while speaking in front of a gathering. But whilst I got a job of a teacher at a school, it gave me a lot of confidence. All of the fears were gone when I started my lectures. Now, since I had left the same profession more than 6 years, I feel it would not be difficult if I do again start that profession ;) Thanks for your good discussion friend.

yea, i do go through those moments where i get so nervous to the point i forgot my words. especially if its a crowd full of unknown people. so far, since i only have to give presentations infront of my class, i dont get that nervous. i deal with my nervousness by preparing my presentation as early as possible & rehearse as much as i can. when the day finally comes to present, i usually will be rehearsing in my head.. talking to friends are kept to a minimum. only after my presentation is over then i will talk to my friends hehe.. i dont know about others but this way helps me.

It's one of my problem. I always feel afraid when I have to speak up in front of many people. I don't know why? Maybe I'm not that confident enough to do so. My personality is too low for it. Or may be I'm afraid of what would other say about me and what I'm talking about. Sometimes I just have to pretend that I'm not afraid but deep inside of me I feel too nervous. Sigh..

Hello, vesuvius! I have been a very introvert and a shy person through out my childhood and most part of my teenage. I especially had problem coming in front of girls even if they were my relatives in my extended family. So you can figure out how much possible it was for me to speak in front of other people. If I had to say something to my parents and they are with someone else, I would wait for that person to go or my parents to leave them for some time. Things started to change for me when I got admission in engineering university. There I met some friends who are still my close friends. They were very out going and helped me overcome my shyness. So I slowly got improving and a time came when I had no problem expressing myself in front of other people. I have also been a student leader in that time and I can't imagine, given my past, that I was able to make speeches in front of large crowds. I lead many academic meetings, counsels and administrative staff also, that required me to be very communicative. My shyness is a part of my past and I can confidently speak in a crowd now.

Well for as long as I know what to speak about, I think I can manage. I have been conducting training to different groups for quite a long time. So I was able to overcome my fear of dealing with speaking in public. The only important thing perhaps is the preparation. If I am given time then I think I would be alright.

I think there is none who did not have any problem when speaking in public for the first time. Actually whenever we go to do something new and that has to be done before people whom we do not deal with in our daily lives, it creates a feeling of uncertainty - what will happen if I fail to do it, how I would compare to others who do that work well and so on. Also there comes a feeling by comparing ourselves with the better placed ones. All these make us nervous. But if preparation is done well on the first occasion and it goes well, a confidence is built up and thereafter no worry at all. Some of us turn out to be good orator. For the first time, I had to deliver a lecture before a small audience to be selected as a teacher. And my students were the teachers of the subject. I was really nervous when I started. But one of my teachers in college days gave me a tip while speaking of his first lecture. That helped me a lot. And it went on smoothly. Finally I was selected though I had to leave that job. Happy lotting

I am no tafraid to speak infront of many people if I know what I have to say. It is not difficult to talk anyway. You just have to know what you should be talking about and who the peolpe around are.

Im not afraid of it, but I get nervous when my turn comes. Even though that Im well prepared for the speech I can still hear the sound of my heart and its so fast. But as the time passes by, I learned how to do it easily, just be calm.

Hi. I have a huge problem with speaking in front of a lot of people. That problem is FEAR!!! When I started college it was a required part of the course to give the final paper orally. I hated it! My professor gave me some advice but I still feared getting up in front of the class. As each class passed I became better at it but still fear getting in front of people to give a speech, etc. I dealt with the fear by focusing on the speech it's self and by picking a person or an object in the room to glance at when I got a little scared. To me it is a part of life but can be overcomed. Happy myLotting!!

I used to be afraid of speaking in front of people when I was still a student but I got over it when I reached high school and college because we had to do a lot of reports and even dramatizations. When I started working, reporting before management seems ordinary for me. I am more worried on the quality of my materials than on my reporting because once I am in front of people, I get too focused on my topic and on my presentation. I even learned to integrate some moments inspiration and humor into my reporting that it doesnt get boring even if I am just merely presenting revenue projections and plans.

yeah, i do find it real difficult to speak in front of a crowd. i have been experincing this problem since long, and to be frank enough i don't actually know how to deal with it. i falter, something goes wrong in my mind and it's real tough to control. i dunno but i reckon it's perhaps because i am too conscious about what others would think of me, and whether i am speaking the correct thing.

I hate talking in front of a group of people and I don't think I'll ever get over that fear. I don't mind one on one or even two or three people. There is just something about a group of people that makes it hard for me to relax and talk about what I need to. Maybe one day I will get over that fear.
