What Type of Job do You and Your Spouse/Partner Have?

I work at home as a medical transcriptionist for a local hospital. I have been working since 1988. The best part is getting to work from home. I type reports for outpatients who come for Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy. When I'm caught up with those I help with the doctor's reports for patients in the hospital which are History and Physicals, Consultations and Discharge Summaries. It is very interesting work and I have learned a lot from it.
My husband is a letter carrier for the Postal Service. He works in Florence, Alabama about 30 minutes from where we live. He started working there right after getting back from Desert Storm. That was his dream to work for the postal services. He thoroughly enjoys his job and his customers really think a lot of him.

I'm a SAHM right now, although when the kids get old enough to look after themselves after School, I want to train to be a Mountain Ranger at a provincial park nearby.
My partner by trade is a lighting technician in the Film/Television industry, but work can be a little erratic from late Fall till Late Spring/early Summer, and so he also has a job doing confidential paperwork deliveries to banks and office high rises in Downtown Vancouver.
the hours are steady and the pay is good, and best of all, we have weekends free to pend with the kids and do whatever we like.

I am a stay at home mom at the moment. I just quit my job as a paralegal for a personal injury attorny. I worked at home but when I had my third child i decided that was way too much to handle. My hubby is a graphics designer and web developer. He loves what he does just hates his job. He's in the process of looking for another job doing what he loves.

I hope your husband can find the job that he is looking for. I know it is miserable to work at a job where you aren't happy. I worked at a nursing home for eight months one time and it was awful!! My husband begged me to quit but I held on for what little bit of medical insurance it provided until I could find something better. Then I got out. :)

I work as a cost accountant in a spinning unit. My job is to check the records of the company and report any unaccounted expenses and any cost increases in the manufactuing process on monthly basis. I also look in to afeas to cut dowm unnecessary expenses and better utilizaton of available resources both cash and material. My husband has his own business and he is currently in a controversy with his partner and the business would be split in to two parts. He questioned the cash flow report of the company and the controversy led to a decision to split the business. He would then be needing my help and i would quit my job and join him soon after the splitting is complete.

Hi Terry!
Let me tell you about the course I took before I started working. It is from a company called Professional Career Development Incorporated (PCDI). They are a great company. It is a correspondence course that I took but they also have medical billing. If you are interested in working at home I would highly advise getting a refresher course through them. Trust me, they are not a scam. They let me pay by the month until I could finish paying for my course then they sent me a diploma. They are certified also. They have several other courses besides medical transcription.
If you deide to look into it I wish you the best of luck. I love my job and wish every woman could do it. Let me know how it goes if you decide to look into it.

Hi Sheila. I am a social worker in the UK. I work with refugees and asylum seekers wishing to make their homes in England. My partner is a promoter for a Sports Management Company, based in London, though he works from their office in Spain quite often, as Spanish is his first language anyway, and his company look after a lot of Sansh-speaking football (soccer) players in Eurpe. Pleased to meet you.

Hi Sheila, and thanks. Yes - I do speak Spanish - in fact we speak mainly Spanish at home, because I figure that if he has to put up with the English language in most of his day-to-day life (radio/TV/newspapers etc), then it is only fair that he should "relax" and be as natural as possible at home. I studied it at School anyway (all kids in the UK have to study at least one- usually two - other languages from quite a young age), so it really isn't a problem!

Does your husband have routes that he carried letters to the porch to put in the mailbox attached to the house? I think that is a lost art. I would love to get my mail walked up to my porch. Just so I could see the postman and than him for good service.
My mother is a professor full time at a local college here in Oklahoma. She also teaches online part time at a college a few hours away from here. My dad is a full time Free Will Baptist pastor. I, of course, go to that church. LOL On the side, (because being a preacher doesn't pay much, at least FWB preachers...) he buys and sell things for his friends, and they pay him a fee for making them money. He loves to do that.

Some of his route have boxes on the porch and some of them are at the side of the road. But if he has a customer that is handicapped and can't get out to his/her mailbox my husband makes a point of taking it to their door. I have to brag on him, he is a very courteous person and all of his customers think the world of him. I admire the way he takes pride in his work and is determined to take care of his customers. It makes me love him even more. He is a wonderful provider. :) :)

By the way, before my mother and stepfather were married we lived in Huntsville, Alabama and mama and I went to a Freewill Baptist Church. We went to one here for a long time but, unfortunately, the church had some problems and there was a split. We left because we didn't feel free to worship there anymore. We have been going to Leighton Baptist since and it is Southern Baptist. I will always be a Freewill Baptist in my heart though.

Shelia, I am a Quality Program Supervisor/Trainer for a fortune 500 publishing company. I enjoy what I do, and it allows me to be in front of large groups of people, so for me that is always good because I like to be the center of attention LOL. My Partner works for North West Airlines, and has actually only been there for a few months but he seems to like it, so I sure that he will stick around there for a while. Fortunatly we work pretty closly together so most of the time we can save some gas on the commute, we both work about 20 mins away from where we live.

I have always wanted to work from home. I find it hard to find these sorts of jobs. I have typed transcription for a medical office before at one of my jobs, but unfortunately I have never found a job I could do from home that wasn't a scam. I type around 80 wpm, but I just can't find anything from home that isn't a scam.
I work for a company and do payroll. My husband is a building engineer. I have to drive 100 miles a day to my job and I hate that.

Bless your heart! I know you are worn out at the end of the day. I used to have a job where I had to leave home by 4:30 in the morning and I didn't get home until that night about 8:00. If my husband hadn't gotten supper for us there would have been many nights where we had only sandwiches for supper. I hope you can find something closer to home that would for you or maybe you can check further into the internet and find some medical transcriptionist work. I have heard of people working over the internet. Good luck to you. :) :)

I work at a Bar and Grill as a hostess. It's more like a restaurant like Texas Roadhouse, Bennigan's, O'Charleys, Cheddars or Applebees. My boyfriend is a car sales men at a Ford dealership. Medical Transcription sounds like it is very interesting and fun too. Postal work is hard to do. They have to walk everywhere and the heat just kills them. At least around here it does. I really enjoy my current job, but I would like to have a Rescue Shelter for pets and my boyfriend wants his own restaurant.
