My boyfriend and I are going to have a yard sale/moving sale this weekend. We are going to be putting up flyers around the area, and advertising on some free sites like Craigslist. Does anyone have any additional tips to help us have a sucessful yard sale? Maybe there's a secret hook to get people to you sale? Some key items that seems to grab people? If you've have a really sucessful yard sale, I want to hear how you did it!

I'd suggest making sure everything is priced. Some people are shy & don't want to haggle or ask for the price. They'll just skip over things that aren't marked. To make it easier you could also group things together by price- everything on this table is $1. If you do that, you'll have to pay attention that people don't move your stuff around on you though.

A lot of people won't really stop for sales that don't seem to have much stuff out, so the more you can put out and the bigger you can make it look, the better.

Set up tables so people don't have to bend over looking at your small items. Put up lots of signs to direct people to your home-and take them down when you are done (I hate driving around looking for a yard sale for the previous week lol). Put clothes towards the back. Most people kind of hate clothes for sale so when we see that, we drive away. Set up things in sections, so like tools in one area, toys in another, household stuff, etc. Don't dump a bunch of stuff in boxes for people to dig around in. Good luck!
