I was watching CSI Miami last night and this episode was about a girl being killed by some diplomat's son who has immunity. His brother was previously apprehended by Horatio's gang in an earlier episode, but the younger brother managed to escape the law. So Horatio was working extra hard to try and find a loophole in the system to catch the younger brother. In this particular scene, at the bar, where he helped to light up the cigar for the younger brother, Horatio actually arrested him on charges of owning and smoking a cuban cigar. My question is... what is so special about cuban cigars? Why is it not allowed on US soil?

I'm not really sure myself but that sounds scary. Lighting up and going to jail for it.

think the US has an embargo on cuban goods. political reasons, linking to communism. which is why US citizens are not allowed to visit Cuba. quite a lot has been featured on Cuba lately. Esp wrt President Fidel Castro's ailing health. friends who have visited love Cuba. Apparently their medical system is one of the best in the world. High quality doctors and cheap affordable fees.

Have double checked with wikipedia. Didn't want to post wrong thing. Basically in 1962 an embargo was imposed by US on Cuba. The stated purpose was to bring democracy to Cuba. But as with US policies, it was deemed inconsistent, since not levied on other dictatorships like the Batista one. Since then, no trade between Cuba and the US has been allowed. This is also ironic since the US is a great proponent of trade and the free market economy. Yes, Cuba is very interesting, because it has been relatively untouched by Americanism. Unlike a lot of developing countries, they are too influenced by Coca Cola and McDonalds and Hollywood. It retains its own unique culture and character. The lifestyle is laid back and the Cubans are very proud of their country. The music and food (I've heard) is fantastic too.
