Mom and I, when I was a kid, cooked pizza in the oven, and the oven was set on fire. Billows of smoke poured out, and we had to toss baking soda on it. I think we ate out that night instead. What happened to the pizza to make it yech? I am just curious.

I never faced a cooking disaster when i was in my learning session. i alwayz made it with all my attention to the food which i used to cook but last month i burny my cauliflower veg. i made it and sat out on terrace and forgot that i have not switched off the gas below the veg. i was sitting for quite a long time and then suddenly i realized , Oh my GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, what the hell i have done..... my whole kitchen , my house was smelling. it was fumes everywhere. my pan, in which i cooked was all spoiled and i asked my maid servant to take it. i felt so bad that how can a person who is so concious and alert in everything , what ever i do, did such a mistake, i felt so bad. that was the only day in my life that i faced such a thing.

I was making a double layer birthday cake and one of the layers broke in half and fell on the floor when I was trying to remove it from the pan.

I love cooking and have a real flair for it, but the one dish I haven't been able to make work is quiche. I've figured that this is for two reasons: 1. I've been using a shallow wide flan dish, and I've not been cooking the filling ingredients before popping them in with the eggs and milk. The only thing is that I'm always a bit hesitant to try making it again, as it uses up so many eggs and filling ingredients, and as I've not had a success yet it feels like rather a waste of good cheese and eggs. It always sinks when it cools!! But as they say, practice makes perfect, so maybe I'll have more success next time...

well im not a good cook...at all. im always trying to find new recipes that look simple, but that would be a good change. recently i made a recipe for chicken salad sandwhiches and it was NOT good. i spent quite a bit of time on it too so my poor hubby ate it anyway, but i could tell he didnt like it. after he was done he said 'dont ever make that again!!'

i have had this experience just this lunchtime. i cannot really believe it all that i did it this time. it was plain fried fish that i did. i am so used to cooking the same amount of tuna that i always deal with it with utmost confidence all the time that i do this one. when the fish was cooked, i cannot believe that my taste buds are telling me that i had sprinkled too much salt to the fish. i kept on telling myself that it was impossible that i missed on this one. oh, boy...we can never really tell.

My cooking disasters are very few.But once I tried to make bread using whole wheat flour without the addition of plain flour and it did not rise at all.Infact the dough became so unpliable that I threw it away right away and made another batch, this time using the proper bread flour. The very first cooking disaster that I had was when I was starting to learn cooking. In India,we eat lots of lentils. One day my father's elder brother and family came visiting. My mum had gone to school where she works, so I had to do the cooking that day.so as usual,I out the rice to cook and the lentils also.I added salt to the lentils thinking it would be done faster. But even after 45 mins, the lentils did not cook at all!it was then that I learnt that salt should never be added to lentils and beans before cooking. It makes the lentils tougher.I had to cook another batch of lentils and our lunch was really delayed that day!LOL

Yah I had, it's like an over cooked dish. I just have to left at the kitchen in just minute to attend something still at home apparently I have neglected that I have something left cook. Until I smell something, Oh my!!! I'm a little bit pity coz' I've work so hard on that dish and I wanted my family to taste it...Well I can't return it back, so to recover the mess I've done I treated them out and find good dining.

yes, a couple of times, especially when i was just first starting how to cook and would experiment. most of the time then, even the stray cats wouldn't eat what i cook. i started cooking when i was 7 btw, now, all i can say is that its a paradigm shift and all i cook is box office in the kitchen. =)
