What do you think of people who love their pets too much? I love animals too, but I am amazed at how some people could be so crazy about their dogs or their horses that they seem to love them more than people or themselves. I cannot see myself totally 'enslaved' by an animal.

I have a cat and a dog.I love them a lot.they look to us for food and care and they are precious to me..However they do not come before my children and family.I have never been in the position to have to choose..I know people who love their pets very much and wrap their life around them but i really don't think if it came down to a choice between the pets and their children that the pets would be first.I do know that just looking at the situation it does seem that way though.

i have noticed that those who have come to love their pets so much are those who have never married and are mostly living alone. those parents whose children have become independent, also have developed extreme closeness to their pets. this is the reason why most grandparents have pets where they pour their love on.

I'm not sure. I have seen people treat their dogs like they are real kids. I never have done this. I love animals don't get me wrong but humans are more important to me also.

That's true but they still aren't the same as humans

I've never understood the way some people are with their animals, my sister-in-law seems to care more for her dog then she does for people, I find that really annoying. People who have pets do have a responsibility to care for them properly but not to treat them better than they treat humans.

I am a huge animal lover, especially cats. I do love my cats more than most people probabaly understand but if I had to choose between my furry family and my human family I would choose my human family, but it would be a hearbreaking decision. I think people get so caught up in animals because they love you unconditionally. Sometimes they are easier to talk to. They can cheer you up better than most humans. These are just some guesses. I do know that I love my cats more than some people I meet but I don't think that is weird. Some people are just not people people. Did that make sense? I mean some people are just mean and mean people aren't worth my time, so I would choose my cats over them.

I say each to their own. I know some people who treat their pets like family- Their kids have all grown up and it’s just husband and wife and the pets. I think it’s a bit odd- I wouldn’t go to that length but I don’t criticize them either- It does bother me when I go to their house and they let their dogs jump up on me all the time- I’d put my dogs out if they did that to people- They laugh- or stop it- or look at who loves you- Give me a break! It just means I don’t go to visit them that often. So I don’t love my animals as much as people or myself- but I don’t care if people do- It’s their choice.

People love there pet because I think because their pets also love them as being for long time in our family they become a part of family . It will not be wrong to say that pets becomes family members. Being crazy is other matter I don't think it is right to hold your pet all the time.

I agree with you there. And sometimes those people don't have kids of their own and those pets are their only children. So, they feel like they should love them with all their hearts.

We have two dogs, and love them dearly, but not more than each other or ourselves. It's true that some people overdo it, and most of the time, they think their dog is happy, but the poor thing just wants to be a normal four-legged animal walking about and sniffing stuff.

Well, i think its not that such a man is enslaved by an animal. It's such that he's passionate enough to make and treat his pet as say, a family member. It is a great value that he has loved his animal as part in the loop of the living creatures in here. I love my dogs and its so painful if the time comes that they're gone. It's like i lost a family member or a friend. Yes, it seems like i can't and its difficult to move on after it. That's maybe because we have the passion to love them the way they treat us as well. Dogs, a man's bestfriend is always submissive by all means... even if their lives are at stake.

I am one of those people you are talking about. When I see what my fellow men do to each that the animal kingdom would never do then yes I love them more than a heck of a lot of people.

I do not believe there is such a thing as loving "too much". Domestic pets are totally reliant on us - just as a baby is. Without us, they would die. To give them love and care is only natural. Animals love us unconditionally - they give their owners loyalty, respect, companionship and love in a way that many humans could learn from. They do not judge on grounds of appearance or how much money someone has - if you love them - they love you back. I admit my cats are my "babies" - I adore them, and to me they are just as important as any human being.

we love our pets so much but not to that extent as we love more than we should love people. we take good care of our dog most of all, and the fishes in the aquarium but all the other pets around were never neglected. we always bring our dog to the veterinarian because we find it necessary. we buy its needs as maybe defined by the veterianarian as a plus to what it has been getting from us attention-wise. i have read though that there are some owners who even hire a caretaker for a dog to keep it clean always because they sleep with their dogs.

I love pets especialy dogs and cat.Even though how much i love them but there's some differences between pets and humans. Somehow ,i will give them the love that they deserve as an animal.

I can understand the people who love their pets "too" much. First, there is little old ladies who are very lonely. Second, there is people who have been treated very bad by human beings and give all their love to pets instead. And third there is people who understand animals perfectly, no human being makes them smile or laugh as much as a pet and the pets love them immensely back.
