you think of a topic for discussion, do you go look for a pen and paper to write it down, or do you just ponder upon it, commit it to memory and then later when you're in front of your PC, you log in to mylot and post it, and then you find that you have forgotten it? This has happened to me a lot of times and I really regret not having written the thought down when I was still thinking about it and it still fresh in my mind. So next time you think of a topic, would you write it down or just trust your memory to work?

we should write it down. but if you are like me who easily forgets, by the time that you have the pen and paper in your hands, the topic has already slipped away from your mind. the best thing that i can hope for when this happens, is for the idea to come running back to me some other time. sweet thinking and sweet hoping, huh? well, it is the only thing that is reasonable to do.

Your are quite right, and I have regretted a hundred times that I did not write a thought. It's just like taking pictures of spontaneous events, once you missed a scene, there's no way to bring it back.

Hello, piropos, when i am out of my house and think of some good discussion topics,i will remember it in my mind and i may start the discussion later if no one had started something similar,I can write down what I thought before in mylot as if it is something i had experienced,i will not forget it.

Well sometimes an idea popsup in the mind I write down immediately but irony is I forget where I have written and searching for that takes some time. So then I tried to keep in mind even then sometimes it comes back and sometimes not, so problem in remembering is everywhere.

Hi, well when I think of something for my discussion I always write it down as otherwise I will forget it when it comes to putting my discussion and I want it to read correctly for others. No I have so many other things that I do on my computer that is why I write it down.

Yep, I've done the same. I'll be busy doing something, or often in bed when I think of a discussion to start and then have no recollection of what this good idea was when I log on. I think maybe I will make sure I've got pen and paper always handy!

Good idea about writing topics with pen but I prefer storing it to my memory, :). My topics are not so long usually, its only 4 to 5 sentences.

I just try to keep it in mind. I usually don't write anything down unless I'm going to be away for several hours and know that I won't get to anything to write it down, or to type it out in the time frame that it will take for me to forget it. I usually have a pretty great memory, so it's not really a big deal for me to not write anything down. However, like any human, I sometimes falter and forget what I was going to say, so I just deal with that issue and let it come back to me later. If it doesn't, then oh well.

I'm a very strong advocate of idea notebooks or writer's notebooks. I have several: (1) an assignment book sized notebook I carry with me everywhere (2) a memo pad I keep in the zip-up thing on the visor of my vehicle (3) a spiral bound notebook I have in my office (and it travels with me throughout the house) (4) my paper journal I'm a VERY forgetful person, so I really need to keep all these tools on hand at all times. Otherwise, I'm wasting a lot of time trying to remember what I thought about earlier that day. A lot of these ideas are transferred to a file folder I keep on my computer. I create spread sheets, as well, so I can keep track of what ideas are working and which ones aren't. Okay, now that I've written all of this out, I tend to wonder if I'm a little OCD about all of this.
