Stop Cravings With Candy Canes!

Men and women who sniffed peppermint whenever they felt the urge to eat lost an average of 5 pounds a month, according to one study. So keep a few candy canes on your desk, in your car, or wherever cravings strike most often. Try this: If you're at a junk-food-filled party with no candy canes in sight, keep a drink (preferably non-alcoholic) in your dominant hand. It will make reaching for hors d'oeuvres a little more difficult, so you'll eat less. Listening to soft, slow music may make you eat less.

Thanks for the tip pal but I think if I sniffed it I would have to eat it , I do love the smell of peppermint though . I am back on my diet again and I keep a bottle of water in the fridge and when I feel really hungry I take a drink of cold water and that helps until my meal is ready and I don't pick at things the same , I don't go to many parties but I like the idea of keeping a dink in the hand a brilliant idea to stop the nibbling too thanks again pal xx

I´ve never heard of this. I´m ready to try just about everything to get rid off my constant cravings. Not that I´m overweight, it´s more of a health question. And I don´t like the idea of stuffing myself. I drink a lot of green tea, because it´s healthy and is supposed to make you feel more full up. Doesn´t work for me, I always get chocolate cravings when I´m having it. So I´ll definitely give the three tips you posted here a try. Thanks for posting this here. :-) Dana

Is this for real Kathy? Just sniff a pepperment, and then the sugar urge will go away? Wow, how great that would be. Have you tried this?

I noticed you said "sniffed" peppermint - would they have still lost weight if they had eaten them?! lol We always keep a packet of mints in the car. That's a good idea to keep a drink in your hand when at a party so that it makes it difficult to nibble too much!

That is very interesting, Kathy. I will have to get some peppermint so I can smell it.

Another fascinating fact Kathy! I do not tend to over ear but nibbling is one of my crimes! Do you think this will work with peppermint gum or mints? I am going to give this a try and see if it works! xx
