I saw tonight the American Idol gives back show (we are behind in NZ) and was absolutely thrilled with the amount they made for poor children. It was also lovely to see the President and his wife acknowledging the great response that was given to this cause. I know how hard it is to see small children going hungry, but to be hungry and without parents to help them through this time is really very sad. We just don't know how well off we are and the line between the haves and havenots is growing wider each day, so if even for a brief moment in time the weathly gave to the poor, it has to be a memorable time and one that I hope is repeated many more times. Good on you all.

Thanks for the response to this discussion. I liked seeing some of the old American idols of the earlier shows, I think it would be great to have a show that looks back on their winning and what they are doing now just as a catch up, maybe they could put together a show like that sometime. Great that you donated to the cause as every $ helps.

Thanks for your response, yes I must admit it brought tears to my eyes also, in fact I just blubbed. I sponsered children over the years from poorer countries and just to see them get a water tap is reward enough, you wouldn't believe it would you that because I sponsered one child the whole village benefited from it and the first thing they did was put a tap with running water in the area for all to use.

Well, that is just so nice of them to do that. I think giving to charity or the poor is the best thing any human can do.

Thankyou for your response. I also think giving charity to those who are by far worse off than yourself. Amazing to see how $1 a day goes a long way, and we wouldn't even bend over in the street to pick up a $ So it is wonderful to see people coming together to donate so much money for the poor and those who have been ravaged by war or nature.
