I sent in my BGE bill over 15 days ago. They say they never recieved it yet.I got an extension to May 11th.That is today. If I stop payment on my check it cost $30.That way I can pay by phone to avoid being cut off.If my BGE gets cut off it cost $30 to reconnect.I almost feel like having it turned off for a few days so they lose money. But then again they still make $30 to reconnect me.They were very rude with me when I called. They said it will be cut off the morning of the 12th and wouldn't even except $100 to keep it on.So I think I should wait until the bank almost closes to see if the check goes thru. Then if it don't cancel the check and pay BGE by phone. What do you think I should do?

you already sent it to them and im sure you have proof that you sent it on time. it could be just an excuse for them to charge you the $30 fee.
know your right and do not let them order you around. you are still a customer here and should not charge you when you have already sent them the payment they did not receive.

You are right.I think that is what they did.On the day it was supposed to be turned off I called them back.I told them I sent the check over 14 days ago and if they wanted to turn it off,go ahead.I lied and said I was going away for the week.I told them that I will have it turned it back on when I get back and that would be a lose of 1 week for them. They said they would check into it.A couple of hours later I called back again and my check went through. They just know that us customers have no where else to turn to.Thanks for your reply.

The same thing happened to me I did a check by phone using the same check number as the check I mailed in. I asked them to post date my payment for the latest date possible. I know different companies work differently some companies dont ask for check number if they do not than dont do it because it will go through as an electronic debit. I can relate with utility companies being rude where I live utilities cost are outragious I had to lie and say I had 5 kids to get a reasonale payment arrangement. I am a single parent of 2 and I make $40 over the maximum allowed for assistance so I have to pay full price for everything it sucks. Good Luck to you.

They got my check the same day it was supossed to be turned off.The thing is I mailed it out 2 weeks before they got it.You can probably get assistance if you say you pay a babysitter x amount of cash a week.My friend uses me to do this.I idn't have a problem with paying it,but I was also not going to pay a $30 fee for something that was there problem by not processing my check on time.

Luckly, we live in a small town so when I go out to pay bills I simply take the bill to them, hand them the check and have them stamp PAID on the bill. The only one I can't do that with is the phone bill...they are out of town. I pay them online and print out my receipt page to verify it was paid. So far, knock on wood, we've had no problems. Tho I did have one month that the manager tried to evict us saying we hadn't paid the rent, as soon as I took the receipt that SHE signed down to the office and showed it to her...that was the end of it. (she mislaid the check).
