in 1000years when we are all but forgotten what do you think we will leave as a legacy for a museum of the future? my thoughts are microwaves and mobile phones, burgers..... forgetting the fact that the depleted uranium we are bombing Iraq with and the rest of the reasons that we wont have a peice of land in the future to hold a museum.

You kind of made your own point, and the point that I was going to make. Until we start taking care of our planet and getting serious about the necessary measures that need to be taken in order to keep our planet healthy, there won't be much hospitable land left in 1000 years. Not worrying about the legacy that we're leaving for our grandchildren's grandchildren is incredibly short-sighted.

thanx for your reply i never said anything about not worrying about it i am extremly concerned and i 'preach' about it all the time but that is another discussion. i wanted a lighthearted discussion on the kind of things we would find in the future. but if i get people referring to the contamination, deforestation, water shortages etc. i could go on forever, then that is great because even if it opens the eyes of just one person who does not realise the damage done i will be happy. but like i say that was not the reason for this posting.

I get that. I guess I'm just turning into a treehugger in my old age and worry about what kind of planet I'm leaving behind for my son. I'd like to see more people taking it seriously. I guess if I had to include anything in a museum, it would be a computer. I imagine in 1000 this computer is going to look pretty primitive.

dont, i am that tree hugger i even have my little grandolas hugging them :) i love trees they are probably IMO one of the most important living things on this planet. as for the computer i think mine is on its last legs so if it is going to be in a museum it had better be a special one because this baby has seen me good for the last several years.
