HELP! I don't know how I got this! It started last night. My eye was really itchy and I kept pulling boogers out of it and now it's all pink and burns and itches at the same time. My vision is blurry too. I wasn't around anyone with it so I don't understand how I would get it.

Oh no! I remember having pink eye in the past and it's a total bummer. I'm sorry you're having to deal with that now. If you haven't gone to a doctor yet, I would definitely get to one as soon as you can and get on some medication. I remember when I had it, once I was taking eye drops for it, it went away pretty quickly. It's really contagious too, so you should probably wash your hands really often and try not to touch your eye too much so that you don't end up passing it to your other eye or something (that's what happened to me). Anyway, I hope you're feeling better soon!!

I made it the doctor and got the pills. Since I don't have insurance I had to pay $45 for the doctor and $13 for the drops. That makes me mad!! Thanks for all the replies I got!! I'm feeling better now. Once I put those drops in it hasn't bothered me since.

Oh I hate crazy doctor bills!! Glad to hear that you're doing better though, cause I know how much pink eye sucks! It seems like it usually goes away pretty quickly with medication though. Thanks for best response!

I am sorry to hear that you have this condition. I have not had it as of yet but my roommate currently has it and does not know what to do because his medical coverage has not gone into effect. It sounds horrible and he is having blurry vision as well and is very itchy in the one eye. You should definitely see a doctor about your condition since it usually requires an antibiotic.

I went to the doctor on friday. she gave me some drops. It doesn't seem to be getting any better though. I guess it takes 7-10 days to get better. I had it when I was like 15 and i don't remember it sticking around that long. Yeah I don't have insurance but they gave me a discount because I was paying cash so it was like $45.

That is definitely not good at all and hope that you go see the doctor so they can give you an antibiotic to help cure it. I have never had pink eye before though there were times I thought I may have had it. Someone that you knew that you have been around may have had it but did not realize that they had it. Sometimes people do not know it right away so it could have been passed along. I hope that you will be alright soon.

Go to a doctor now. Blurry vision is never a good thing.

I think you have conjunctivitis, or "pink eye". The inflammation of eye membrane causes the redness and swelling. This might come from certain allergies or irritations. Most of the time a bacterial or viral infections are the real cause of it and it can easily be spread out. Be very careful and treat it ahead. 1.) Do not rub your eyes, this may irritate your eyes more. 2.) Wash your hands often to prevent it from spreading to the other eye, cause sometimes we do not notice our hands had touched the infected eye and go to the other one so it came infected. 3.) You may use a warm, wet washcloth to soak off any crusting. 4.)If you have contact lense, out with those. This might also cause serious eye irritation. This is the most important, see a doctor. If pink eye is caused by bacteria and virus, it need to be treated ahead, a doctor might give you an antibiotic eye drop to get rid of the infection. Pink eye caused by bacteria or virus usually hangs around for a week.

angelface, I think that, for your own safety, instead of reading mylot posts for now, try to immediately consult a doctor, since your eye problem may be aggravated and unwanted complications may (God forbid) arise.

It spreads like crazy. It doesn't matter if your were around anyone with it. It could have been something as simple as a person working at a register. They could have come in contact with someone who had pink eye then you came in contact with them because they had the virus on their hands and you exchanged it when you paid them. But either way it doesnt really matter how you got it. Because now you have to worry about getting rid of it. In the pharmacy we have something over the counter you can buy for pink eye. It will get rid of the itching, burning and blurry vision but you will still need to go to the doctor to get an antibiotic to get rid of the virus in your eye. It is really a pain in the butt!
