Why do we watch the eurovision

Why do we continue to watch the Eurovision song contest. Come on, for too long now it has been one of the biggest jokes in the music calendar. The songs belong to a generation of music that makes "cheesy" look good and as for the bands that perform them...... OK I will admit there are one or two good songs that come out of it, but really, is it worth the hard work and effort to watch it when you know how most countrys are going to vote for the top points and the winner is decided not on the quality of the song but on inter country relations. Please spare me Saturday night from the TV...think I will bury my head in the sand and hope it all ends quickly.

It is always funny and nice to watch the contest, it is like the election of Miss France in France, it is useless but always funny to watch ... And another occasion to gather friends in a pub !!!

I think that is probably why it keeps being broadcast. It seems to have become as much an institution as a laughing stock. But do you think the format could be changed, it has not really moved along since it bagen has it, or would that ruin the "fun" formula of it all.

It is fun, it is like watching 4 hours of comedy and then picking out the worst to laugh about for a couple of days. It is a shame though that there aren't any good songs amongst them anymore though, but you gotta admit that like in example Lordi and I believe Iceland (the chick who called with god) and such was quite funny :P.

But isn't that the problem, the joke aspect of it I mean. The contestants take it so seriuosly when the rest of Europe, if not the world are sitting there laughing at them. It would be kinder and easier to my ears at least to bin the whole project.

in the last years it is difficult for me to find more than one-two good eurovision songs.... it's more show than music.... people watch it as they watch a comrdy ( "oh, look what pants he has, look at her hair") but, the biiggest joke is in the end: the voting, when all is known in advance. what a shame... bring us back the 70's and 80's
