why do people use defensive mechanisms to surpress their ego and superego, instead of dealing with real situations especially anger?

Actually, defensive mechanisms are generally used BY the ego/superego to deal with the id. The id is the animal, it lacks self control. From your example, if the id was in control, any anger would be instantly unleashed. The superego's message might be that being angry is wrong, it is the moral message. Whereas the ego mediates between the two.
