Safest Food for Dogs

I have done a lot of research on different dog foods and have switched to Mother Hubbard's Wellness dog food. I've been amazed at how much healthier my dogs' coats are and how much more bouncy and active my older dog is. Has anyone else tried Wellness? Do you have a food you think is better? My goal was to avoid foods that use wheat meal and corn meal because my Scottie is allergic, but I now have another reason to avoid them - the terrible mess with the contaminated Menu Foods dog foods.
