For myself, being a second generation immigrant in the U.K, after being bullied and racially abused as a kid and moving countries, going to Greece to live and having been born in the U.K, the internet has kind of become an anchor for me. I meet people from all over the world, especially on Mylot and I feel at home, because I am not being discriminated against for race,n religion or colour. I can just be me and people can like or dislike me but for myself, not some stereotype perception. Has the internet helped any of you displaced souls feel at home?

absoluely yanji. i am displaced right now, in the sense that i am disillusioned and just have had a divorce, only a few days back. its tough, the only solace being myLot, i really mean it. i confide in here more than i do to my family and best friend!! that speaks itself for the kind of bond i share for this place.
i have some wonderful friends here and yanji i am ever grateful to you all for the support. i feel i am talking to you in person. my heart is connecting to yours through the same vibe instantly. i know, you are thinking of me while reading through and wishing good and that is viceversa. and this is the cure of my displaced heart.
thanx a lot.

I went through a divorce after eleven years of hell and still struggling, even I am confused at this moment in time with my new life and an absent husband that sometimes gives me the cold shoulder, believe me I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE AT AND CAN TOTALLY understand you AND MYLOT GIVES ME A PLACE TO BE POSITIVE AND FORGET MY DAILY troubles...You can always pm me for a chat and I have skype and YM...if ever you need a real friend..

Yes, the internet helped me to meet my soul mate and displace me :) There are always hardship, but now I have someone who is willing to share it with me. The internet helps to meet strangers in mylot and become friends, plus helps me market my business. It's also a huge library, I can find everything I need to know here within minutes, even if I'm too lazy to read it :)

Your topic had touched a core in my heart, Yan. I grew up in a traditional mix of Chinese and Spanish family and it was a taboo for us to involve with anyone outside of our race.
When I stayed and worked in another Chinese Asian country, despite my fluent Mandarin, I was still being discriminated because of my looks and diction. Its not like this country haven't seen any Spanish girl, right. Its not my fault to look more like Spanish than Chinese.
Mylot certainly gave me the chance to know a lot of different races. I don't care if you are short, balding, cross eyed or whatever. I cared more about the heart of each users.

Sorry to hear that, barbie... about your sad childhood. I wasn't displaced so to speak but I can sort of understand what you have gone through. Well, be strong and let the internet help you gain an anchor in the world. ;-)

I have two homes really, Austria and California and the internet makes it a lot easier to keep in touch with both. And not really being a people person I found the online community is just right for me. I can just log off and be alone if I want. Nobody knocking on my door unless I want them too.

Yes. I think so. The internet has helped make the world become smaller. We feel we are in a small world now. No matter what corner of the world people are in, we feel we are so near, we can talk, we can exchange opinions on various things and we can become good friends. Some people even say we are now living in one village, the Earth Village.
