On May 6th, it was announced that Lost will run for an additional three more seasons, making a total of 6 seasons. These final three seasons will consists of 16 episodes each and will be uninterrupted by repeats. Now I've been keeping track of how the seasons have been running, and I'd like to share with you what I've found: Season 1 (24 episodes) The first season of Lost ran with numerous repeats in between episodes to allow for time to have new episodes created. Season 2 (23 episodes) The second season of Lost ran very similar to the first season with reruns breaking up the episodes. Season 3 (22 episodes) Due to requests of viewers to stop showing reruns between the new episodes, season three was broken up into two uninterrupted parts called the fall and spring season in which a hiatus of a couple months separated the episodes. Season 4,5,6 (16 episodes) The last remaining seasons will run uninterrupted with no hiatus from February through May. Here's what I want you to pay attention to. The last three seasons will only have 16 episodes compared to the first three that had at least 22-24 episodes. If you do the math, the creators of Lost are breaking up two full 24 episode long seasons into three 16 episode long seasons. I don't know if I like that or not because it seems like the viewers are being cheated a little bit by thinking there will be three more season, when in actuality there will be episodes for two more seasons. What are your thoughts on this?
