Which do you think - Gambhir-Sehwag, or Sehwag-Uthappa, or Gambhir-Uthappa - is a good opening pair for India in the current tour ? or should Dinesh Mongia open the innings ?? :O

think about the dull form of sehwag, i think the ultimate opening pair for india in one day is Sachi-Gambhir. because sachin earned most of his batting records from his opening position. Gambhir is such a promissing youngster, he can learn many things from sachin. most above that they are the perfect left-right combination for india.

Yes, you are quite right about the opening pair and the experience that Sachin brings to the team. Yes, they would be a good right hand and left hand combination. Sachin should pass on his experience to all the team-mates and then retire with good honours. That way he'll be remembered as a great player ! :)

i think gautam gambhir and shewag would be the best pair capable of opening for indian innings .......... then there should come rahul dravid ... after that i think sachin tendulkar should come .... then yuvraj singh ..... then mahendra singh dhoni should come .........and then dinesh karthick ... according to me this should be the batting order of indian cricket team ...... and in this batting line up i do not see any position for robbin uthaappa ... even there is no place for sourav ganguly ... he can only have a chance to replace virendar shewag in opining position ..... indian cricket team should hive chance to new comer for good future team ..

I think that your order provides stability to the batting line-up but the runs scored won't be that great unless Sehwag picks up. Rahul Dravid is a slow starter and if an early wicket falls, then the current run-rate would be down as Dravid occupies the crease. We've seen this happening in most matches. Sachin too takes time to settle down and then he displays his shots later on in the game. Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Dhoni are hard hitters of the ball and hence they may provide a boost to the total, but by the time Sachin and Dravid are out, things would possibly be in the 35th to 50th overs. So, I don't think that there would be a great benefit from your lineup. And yes, you are right. There shouldn't be any chance for Ganguly. He doesn't score quick runs but plays for his own record. Such people deserved what they had to be done. Thanks a lot for your reply ! :)

I feel that Gambhir and Uthappa should open the innings. Dines Mongia should be removed from the team and Sehwag should me made to open after the fall of first wicket. I dont know on what basis Dines Mongia is kept in the team. If he does something for India then it is okey, but i havent seen any of his match winning play

I too feel the same, but I think that Dinesh Mongia is not playing his best. And as far as the first match was concerned, he was the best bowler for the team picking up 3 wickets for 49 runs. The others were belted all over the ground by the Bangladeshi batsmen. I think that's a positive sign of him contributing to the team as a whole ! On the other hand, Munaf Patel has bowled well but without wickets. I think that's a point to be noticed. We want wicket-taking, match-winning bowlers and not the bowlers who don't take wickets and contain. Anyways, thank you for your reply :).

I think that Sehwag is having some problems with his batting lately and he isn't the appropriate person at this time to open. However, on his day, he is one of the greatest openers as he can boost the score exponentially ! Gambhir is a decent opener who likes to stay for a long time and he has proved his worth by hitting valuable knocks for the country. I think Uthappa should be given a chance to free his arms for the next ODI to be held at Chittagong. Thank you for your reply. :)
