How Important is Religion To You?

This isn't about which religion is more important, but how important is it to you? Do you worship regularly and follow your religion's belief always or do you sometimes disagree with some of that belief system? Does being a religious person help you get through difficult times or does it matter to you at all? I wasn't raised in a religious family, but now that I am older and have children of my own I made it a point to be more religious. I feel it has given my children a solid foundation for life and has taught them to look beyond themselves. Do you feel this way too or is it not all that important to you?

My religion is very Important to me, Islam is a way of life, in every part of my life, I have proper guidance of doing it, and I'm very much satisfied with it. I worship regularly and follow my religious beliefs. I do not disagree with my religious beliefs but I disagree some people also claim in the same religion and doing something not in the religion and claim it is in the religion. Also I disagree some bad cultural aspects entered among Muslims community they are out of Islam. I'm not a show off person, I don't want others certificate to be with my beliefs, I have average understanding about our religion. I'm what I'm. When someone address me as a religious or call by such a name it scares me. I was raised in a religious family, and I'm very much thankful to our mother who taught us the good things and practices, It gave me clear foundations for my life and just to others. In my opinion, without having any religion is difficult to live, All should learn about their own beliefs and for what they believe it, simply believe because 'I was raised so' is not a good answer. Also we should understand about other religions, and how the followers are.

Hinduism - I am attached to my religion. And I respect all the other religions.
Religion is important to me personally.I am connected to it by my name, the festivals, the auspicious days,my relatives and as a comfort in hard times. It never bred hatred towards others.I go on my own way.I don't have to pretend that That I don't like my religion even as I don,t go to temple regularly.I can feel in my hearts of hearts that I am attached to my religion. One thing for sure.My religious feeling never deter me from enjoying the good things of my fellow men.It has made me wise you can say.

God is important to me, but religion is not. Religions teach you to fear God, I do not want to fear God. I believe in goodness and treating others with respect and courtesy. I was raised a Catholic and I feel I was brainwashed with their teachings. I wonder which religion God would tell me to follow, if any? How can you have a religion and then adapt it to fit some desire? Does it make any sense that there are 1000's of religions and more coming into creation every day? What would be wrong with one religion? I think religions are man's creations and not necessarily something God has directed. I just don't see the purpose of religions. I thank God for what is and appreciate what has been and what will be. Religions are constantly fighting with each other and trying to be dominant, as if it was a game or something. People kill in the name of their religions and this has happened for centuries. Really, is this what God intended? It certainly doesn't agree with my intentions of loving myself and all of creation. And don't tell me I am going to hell for not believing in a religion. I believe I am manifested from God and why would God condemn my soul to hell as it is a part of him/her? It makes no sense.

I feel it is very important. It has given my a direction and purpose in life. This time we have here is so short and what we seem to do while we are alive , seems pointless. for instance, how many stories of people do you remember that came before you. There forefore I look to my future life. I look forward to that, and it makes life a lot more bearable.

Religion does not enter our lives. I haven't been in a church since I was 14 and haven't been to a religious service since I was 20 (that was 10 years ago). I have absolutely no interest in god or religion and have chosen to raise my 4 children without it. It isn't easy since I get blasted by people all the time, telling me I am leading my children to the devil or hell or that they are going to be awful people when they are adults. They are wonderful, compassionate children. I have met many kids that were raised very religious and are horrible people. So I don't get why people assume children raised with religion will be great adults and those raised without will be horrible.

I was initiated into Buddhism, studied Christian Theology and somehow found my most lucrative dealings in life to be with Muslims, Jains and Hindus. Religion plays an important part in life, I think its an integral part of our culture and all religions seem to offer something to their believers. I believe in the importance of spirituality and the spiritual aspects of all religions. On the other hand I get turned off by religious dogma.

My Gods are very important to me. I say that first, because I want to make the point that my religion isn't just a religion to me, but also a personal relationship. I'm a Celtic Reconstructionist, which is a form of paganism. Since my belief system isn't particularly organized, I suppose I don't have to worry too much about whether I agree or disagree with parts of it. I piece it together from history, from things my great-grandmother taught me, from personal revelation, from other people within the religion... while I might sometimes disagree with what other people in my religion say, that isn't the same as disagreeing with parts of the religion itself. Most of my family wasn't the same religion as me, just my great-grandmother. I loved her very much, and I am very grateful for what she has taught me. Since I was a very young child and in an abusive situation, I feel as if my Gods have been there for me when no one else was. While I am grateful for that, it's also important to me as an adult to make sure that other people, especially children, never have to go without human love as well as divine. As for my child, I think learning about different religions will be good for him. While I would be ecstatic if he chose to follow my religion, I will also love him no matter what his choice is, and only hope that he can learn to respect my religion as well as his father's religion (Christianity).

Hello,wachit14,i do not have any religion but i believe it is a good thing for people to have religion.Sometimes when people get lost ,the religion may help them to hang on and get over the hard time,it is a belief that help them to make it. I am not sure whether religion really works or not,but I respect to those pious religionists.

Religion or my faith is part of my life it is where I find solace and comfort during hard times, it girds my spirit to be strong and courageous to face the odds of life and it permeates and reflects in my behavior towards others and it teaches me how to love and to care for my family and society. Indeed it is a solid foundation for inculcating values and morals on my kids.

My beliefs are very important to me. Yes, I worship regularly but have, as is within my rights, adjusted my beliefs, or tailored them, for want of a better word, to suit me, personally. I still follow the basics to the letter, but I have variants in certain parts. I get through difficult times with a strong belief that I will be aided by the powers that be, to be strong and get through the bad periods in my life. I think the learning part of any religions belief is very important. Reading is essential as is learning and gaining wisdom, either in a practical or a literary way. Christians read the Bible, other religions have their own versions, and traditions. Brightest Blessings.

I was not raised in a religious family either. Now, late in life after my children are grown themselves I have found my own spiritualality and religion. I do regreat greatly not raising my children in a religious environment now. My religion is important to me. I feel so much more at peace. I do not worship each Sunday but I do go on a fairly regular basis and I agree with my religion's beliefs. I found it during a very difficult time in my life when I was struggling and found the answers and comfort I had searched for elswhere but could not find. Yes, religion matters to me though I feel I have a lot to learn and need to strive harder to be better at practicing my faith.
