Would you trust one?

More and more degrees are available online. What professions do you feel are capable of being taught online? What professional or trade person would you trust if they had an online degree? Is there a profession or trade that you feel is better taught in person than online?

Well common sense is nearly non existent and to tell you the true the most trust I hold right now is for the pharmacist. I can't tell you how many times I've got to fill a prescription and my pharmacist has told me she refuses to fill it because of my allergy. I bet doctors could do as good being educated online then some we have right here. The pharmacist has to go to university for a long time and it costs a lot of money to get their degree but here's the thing, when they're done they know their stuff. As for online degree I'm uncertain I guess it might be OK, depending on intelligence.

Grandma, you are wise beyond your years! Yes, when one has meds, talking with their pharmacist is an EXCELLENT idea. They have been trained to know those meds backwards and forwards. Doctors and nurses are given enough knowledge about them to be barely competent. Then along comes new meds and we really don't know all that we (doctors and nurses) should about them. The pharmacist however, has a chemical understanding about the classes of meds and when new one comes out, they can understnad the little differences in it and the older ones so much better! Yes, a pharmacist is a wealth of information!

I think I would prefer my doctor to have hands on training rather than just theoretical information. Can you imagine being operated on by a surgeon who has never cut into someone before? Not very reassuring. I would also like to have a nurse insert my IV and give me shots that had done so before.

I would trust online colleges OKd by the BBB, reputable, etc. for certain courses/degrees. Anything business/management would make sense..........then again, how do you learn to manage people that way? I honestly don't know for sure. I do know that you learn more by attending in person than online. I've taken a couple of classes for the medical reserve corps. that I volunteer for and realized that you learn more from other people's questions, than if you just took it online and read what was given to you. But, if you don't have the time/money, online can be a Godsend. I thought most online places make you go to a school to complete certain parts that need to be hands-on? That would make the most sense. I wouldn't trust a doctor, dentist, etc. with an online degree though, so I guess I'm not 100% sure. I've been thinking about going back to school online, so I have the time, now that my new employer offer a great tuition reimbursement program - but I don't know if they cover online or not. So, it would depend on wether it's covered on wether I'd take it online or in the classroom.

This is a tough question. As our integrity is at stake when we take online classses. I personally do take online classes. I do so to gain knowlege. I would never cheat or lie to get credit for a class. That is just how important my ingegrity is to me. I have always tried to keep my name clean so it would never hurt me in any way. Every job I ever took, I made a promise to myself that I would do the best that I could at that job. I would work an hour for a hours pay. However there are many in society today who do not have integrity. They are out for money and that is it. So I think that is a hard question for me to answer. I cannot answer it honestly without much thought.

I took an online computer repair course, From a very reperdable school. I would suggest doing a little backround research (BBB) before giving money to any of the offerd online courses. Although it worked out great for me & I didn't get burnt, that not always the case. (Great Question

See, to me, your training would seem to be hard to attain online. It seems to me, that if one were going to teach me to fix a computer, I would need them right beside me! I would need hands on.... both of us looking at the non-working computer and them showing me what to do! I am just amazed that someone has designed an online education so precise!

I honestly don't know. I don't have a problem with online degrees. There are some professions that require a certain amount of hands-on experience but the majority of college classes are things that I think can be taught online. What each person learns individually is up to them. They are responsible for the information. If they can get that from a book and an online message board or online broadcasts, I think that's great! I'm a big fan of learning at your own pace and being able to do work and classes when it's convenient for you. I think if a person learns the information and can prove it with standardized testing, etc, it shouldn't matter where it came from!

I would definately not trust a health professional if they were taught online. How can you learn without hands-on experience? Not sure if I have ever encountered someone with an online degree. I would have to have references before I would employ their services.

I think whatever could be taught in schools could as well be taught online schools. I would trust them if they do the same job as people who did go to school on campuses to earn their degrees.

I wouldn't use an online degree site. I also know people who have online degrees and they don't mean much. So the bad things and such are a waste of time in my opinion. Although there sites which do help you gain work after so thats not all bad... Missing the answer right? ~Joey

Definitely, I need to trust someone in life. Cos, I don't trust anyone, then I would trust no one. I need to trust my wife, friends, Mother, Father, sisters and brothers. These are the only persons I can trust.
